When some are overactive and others are weak, it pulls your face off balance. Over time, that’s what exaggerates asymmetry, deepens lines on one side, and even makes you look older. Puckering your lips and moving them side to side works because it activates the orbicularis oris (the muscle around your mouth) and the zygomatic muscles (your smile/lift muscles). These are often uneven — one side firing more than the other — which creates drooping or uneven smile lines. By moving evenly across both sides, you retrain weaker muscles to fire, while releasing tension in the dominant ones!!! AND for my science people, the science backs this up! Research shows that targeted facial exercises increase muscle thickness and strength, improve blood flow, and enhance symmetry over time (similar to how resistance training changes your body). Since facial muscles are directly attached to your skin, strengthening and balancing them also improves how your skin sits and reduces the drag that causes sagging.
