Confirmation bias is a prevalent cognitive phenomenon that influences how individuals process information. This tendency leads people to actively seek out, or interpret, data and experiences that align with their preexisting beliefs, often sidelining or dismissing information that contradicts them. This unconscious bias can significantly skew decision-making, making it crucial to cultivate a mindset that focuses on positivity and growth. It’s important to consciously choose to reflect on thoughts that uplift us—thoughts that are good, encouraging, peaceful, loving, and kind. Visualizing success and anticipating victories in our endeavors can empower us to achieve our goals. Additionally, embracing conversations with those who hold different viewpoints can expand our understanding and challenge our biases. By maintaining a positive attitude, practicing discipline, exercising patience, and remaining focused on our aspirations, we can actively attract more positivity into our lives. This mindset not only enriches our personal experiences but also helps us recognize and nurture the goodness that exists in the world around us. #investment #business #entrepreneurship #confirmationbias #focus #discipline #strongrelationships #family #legacy #trust #belief #growth #success #wealth

Read caption & Save for later ⬇️ Most people think influence is about being louder, smarter, or more powerful. It’s not. The truth? Human behavior follows hidden psychological patterns. Once you understand them, you start noticing how often people are influenced without realizing it. Here are 5 Dark Psychology Laws that quietly shape human behavior: 1️⃣ The Law of Reciprocity Humans hate feeling like they “owe” someone. Give a small, unexpected favor and people naturally feel pressure to return it. 2️⃣ The Pratfall Effect Perfection makes people suspicious. But a small, harmless mistake makes you relatable and more likable. 3️⃣ The Scarcity Principle What’s always available feels less valuable. When your time and attention aren’t unlimited, your perceived value increases. 4️⃣ The False Consensus Effect People assume their beliefs are shared by most others. Speaking as if “everyone already agrees” subtly nudges people to align. 5️⃣ The Pygmalion Effect Expectations shape behavior. Treat someone as capable or hardworking, and they often grow into that identity. ⚠️ But here’s the real lesson: These principles can manipulate… or help you understand people and build ethical influence. The difference is intention. Once you see these patterns, you’ll notice them everywhere — in friendships, workplaces, negotiations, and even social media. Human psychology isn’t random. It’s predictable. And the people who understand it… quietly shape the world around them. Save this post for later. "They must be right. There are four of them and one of me." A classic demonstration of social psychologist Solomon Asch's Conformity Line Experiment. In these experiments, groups of participants were asked to match the length of lines on cards - the solutions being obvious. But each group consisted of one genuine participant, while the rest of the group was secretly instructed to provide the wrong answer. On average, one-third of the genuine participants conformed to the group and agreed with an obviously wrong answer. In control studies where there were no secret instructions or peer pressure, the genuine participants gave a wrong answer less than 1% of the time. It's surprisingly easy for individuals to conform to false group think, even when the truth is obvious. How many fringe political beliefs arise out of this social phenomenon? Probably too many.

The Illusory Truth Effect: This occurs when a person believes information is correct simply because they have heard or been told it repeatedly, or because a "suggestion" was made. If outside sources tell us something enough times, the majority will believe it. One has to have their veil lifted to not be manipulated in the same way. This is also called discernment. To be discerning even when the authority figures are making the false statements. Sound familiar??

You keep seeing the same claim made over and over online—so it must be true, right? Not necessarily. You could be experiencing the illusory truth effect—the psychological phenomenon that makes us more likely to believe something that we repeatedly see or hear. The biggest manipulation of all time is the notion that everything is about left for right. This concept is discussed at length, highlighting the various forms of media manipulation that perpetuate this idea. The statement that's not real is repeated for emphasis. The conversation delves into the idea that once identity is tied to a particular ideology, individuals are more likely to go along with it, even if it means conforming to a certain narrative. The discussion also references a famous experiment by Dr. Solomon Ash, where participants are influenced by the opinions of others, even when it goes against their own judgment. The experiment involves a card with three lines and another card with a single line, where the participant is asked to identify which line is equal to the one on the first card. The fact that 95% of people conformed to the incorrect answer, despite the obvious correct choice, is a striking example of the power of social influence. The conversation also touches on the idea that this kind of manipulation is not limited to any one group for ideology, but rather is a pervasive phenomenon that affects people across the spectrum. The idea that people will go along with a particular narrative once their identity is tied to it is a powerful one, and it has significant implications for how we think about media manipulation and social influence. The conversation raises important questions about the nature of reality and how it is shaped by the information we consume and the social norms we adhere to. What does it mean to be influenced by the opinions of others, and how can we cultivate a more critical and discerning approach to the information we encounter? #Mediamanipulation #psychology #foryou Follow @stelle.world for tech, science and everything in between.
