Building F1 projects this year? 🏎️ I’m a huge fan of the FastF1 Python package! 🐍 I’ve been using it in my projects for ages, and it’s even the primary data source for my F1 Race Replay project! 💻 As a programmer, it’s a great opportunity to build projects around the sport that you love, without needing the big budgets that motorsport usually requires 😅

What do you rate my commentary skills? 😂 My latest micro project “F1 Race Replay” allows you to watch the race from above using telemetry from the FastF1 python package! 🏎️ I think it would be cool to see what other features could be added to this project. Driver telemetry analysis? Gap to car ahead? A viewer for qualifying or practice? 🤔 Follow for more coding videos! ❤️

Here’s how you can get access to real F1 data and telemetry for your Python projects! 🏎️ FastF1 is a free Python package that contains regularly updated F1 data. 📈 Take a look at my example telemetry visualiser where I plotted George Russell’s qualifying lap that landed him in pole position for the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix. 👀 Happy coding, and don’t forget about the race tomorrow! 💻

save these steps for your next data project 🏎️ & tell me what I should analyze first! FastF1 is a free Python package that gives you access to real F1 data. Everything from lap times, sector times, tyre compounds, pit stops, telemetry, weather, and race results. Here’s how to connect to it: ↳pip install fastf1 and import it into your script ↳ enable caching first to save your data locally. this avoids you to re-download it every time you run ↳ pull any session by passing 3 things: year, circuit name, session type and you’re in Here’s what you get back: ↳ session.results gives you finishing positions, points, and DNF status ↳ session.laps gives you every lap for every driver with lap times, sector times, tyre compound, tyre life, and pit data ↳ session.weather_data gives you track temp, air temp, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall mapped to each lap ↳ telemetry off any individual lap gets you speed, RPM, throttle, brake, gear, and exact X and Y coordinates of the car on track Everything comes back as a Pandas DataFrame so you can filter, group, and plot it like any dataset you’ve already worked with Real data that’s not only free but also actually interesting to analyze 👀 save this+ follow for the full project walkthrough Thanks @atlassian & @williamsf1official for the jacket 🔥

Stop thinking of your app as one big "bubble." Localhost is a lie, production is a network of separate islands connected by a single bridge, your API URL. Production is a completely different reality where your code gets split up: Frontend: Lives on a CDN (Vercel/Netlify) to be close to users. Backend: Lives on a Cloud Server (AWS EC2) to process logic. Database: Lives in a Private Network (RDS) for security. That one .env variable holding your API URL is the only bridge allowing your users to cross the internet and reach your data. If you are building a /login flow, this diagram explains exactly why you can't just query the database from your React components. Save this diagram for the next time your app "works on my machine" but 404s on deploy. #backenddeveloper #fastapi #reactjs #systemdesign #aws #webdevelopment #codingtips #softwareengineering #devops #fullstack #learnprogramming

You all loved my latest project, so of course I had to add some new features! 🏎️ F1 Race Replay allows you to watch a race unfold from above, enabling you to see everything that happens all at once! 📺 The new features include: - Driver Tyre Information 🛞 - Driver Telemetry Insights 📈 - Track Status Indicators 🚥 We’ve also already had the first external pull request, where another developer added in the ability to resize the window to fit any screen! 🖥️ It’s open-source, so anyone can download the code, have a play and even contribute features of their own for everyone else to enjoy! 🚀
