Il nome della festa di Ferragosto deriva dal latino feriae Augusti (riposo di Augusto), in onore di Ottaviano Augusto, primo imperatore romano, da cui prende il nome il mese di agosto. Era un periodo di riposo e di festeggiamenti, istituito dall'imperatore stesso nel 18 a. C. , che aveva origine dalla tradizione dei Consualia, feste che celebravano la fine dei lavori agricoli, dedicate a Conso, che, per i Romani, era il dio della terra e della fertilità. In tutto l'Impero si organizzavano feste e corse di cavalli, e gli animali da tiro, esentati dai lavori nei campi, venivano adornati di fiori. Inoltre era usanza che, in questi giorni, i contadini facessero gli auguri ai proprietari dei terreni ricevendo in cambio una mancia. Anticamente, come festa pagana, era celebrata il 1° agosto. Ma i giorni di riposo (e di festa) erano in effetti molti di più: anche tutto il mese, con il giorno 13, in particolare, dedicato alla dea Diana. La ricorrenza fu assimilata dalla Chiesa Cattolica attorno al VII secolo, quando si iniziò a celebrare l'Assunzione di Maria, festività che fu poi fissata il 15 agosto. Misión que se sostiene en afirmar y celebrar el magnífico y aparentemente ordinario don de la existencia abierta a la tarea siempre nueva de cultivarla. 🌱 La feria, responde -dice el autor- al tiempo ordinario en la Liturgia, que no es más que la Fiesta extendida en el tiempo. 🧡 Este proyecto parte de ahí, para proyectarse -justamente- en actividades, pero no desde la lógica del frenesí del activismo, sino de encuentros abiertos gracias al ocio contemplativo y creativo. Tiempo de feria es, en muchos lugares, tiempo de descanso, y hoy el descanso espiritual nos urge. Feriae, dice alegría/fiesta, dice tarea de cultivarnos y formarnos, dice tradición.💌 También nos recuerda el intercambio de los artesanos medievales, la comunidad que se reúne. Por eso dice también arte, comunidad, intercambio de bienes culturales.
