CUFinger coiling tutorial ➰
This is how I like to finger coil cause my finger doesn’t get stuck while twisting it unlike when doing it the normal twirling with one hand way 😅
Details:
➡️ Smooth over products on detangled wet hair (or damp if you like)
➡️ For each section, hold the hair at the end on one hand
➡️ And use the other hand to twirl the hair
➡️ While finger coiling loosen up the other hand holding the end and then let go
➡️ Scrunch it after
I only really finger coil my front pieces where it’s the most curly so it can be as defined. Doing it on my more wavy hairs is not worth the time for me since it would generally give the same result as brush styling 🙌🏼

Finger coiling is a skill, and like any skill, it takes time to master. Don’t expect perfect coils the first time. Keep practicing, parting, coiling, and adjusting until you get the results you love. You can do this! 🌀
For this tutorial, we started with Honey Almond Shampoo & Conditioner, followed by Rosewater Spray to lock in hydration and lower my hair’s pH, leaving it smooth and manageable. I then layered Organic Styling Gel and All Textures Gel for definition. After sitting under the dryer for 30 minutes, I fluffed my hair using a blow dryer and finished with S3 Shine Spray for shine and firm holding spray.

Finger coiling has been a total game changer for me. When my hair was transitioning this really encouraged the damaged parts of my hair to clump and form ringlets. Now, I finger coil my top layer when I want guaranteed great results from my washday with extra definition and volume! 💕

Additional tips (I couldn’t fit them all in the video 🤣):
- Make sure your hair is SOAKING wet. Apply more water throughout if necessary if your hair is starting to dry.
- Use a gel that gives you great slip and makes your hair easy to slide around your fingers.
- Finger coil from the root (not just the ends) to make sure you get volume and your curls don’t lie flat against your scalp.

I’d like to mention that it does help to have texture or a curl pattern already because this IS a styling method and you’re adding emphasis to your curl ➰👩🏻🦱 I also found this to be a lot easier than finger coiling and I LOVE the way it makes my wet curls look ❤️🌀

✨ Steps in detail ✨
1️⃣ make sure you already have product in your hair. I sectioned my hair then went in with my @curlsmith_official ‘Hold Me Softly’ cream throughout my hair, distributing the product with my @denmanbrush d7 brush
2️⃣ with one strand, make sure it’s completely flat, brush through if needed ✔️
3️⃣ take your right index finger and wrap around the hair strand with your opposite hand
4️⃣ put your left index finger on top of the hair strand and start overlapping your fingers creating a rolling motion going UPWARDS 👆🏼
5️⃣ once you’ve reached the top of your head, slide one finger out then the other, while giving the curl a little shake 🧂
6️⃣ do the same for the remaining parts of your hair, go in with a gel for a strong hold then mousse (optional) 🍦
7️⃣ air dry with a cotton t-shirt for 15 mins then diffuse on medium heat on high speed for 25-30 mins ⏰🥰
