๐น Finite Verbs
A finite verb changes its form according to:
Subject (I, he, they, etc.)
Tense (past, present, future)
Number (singular/plural)
๐ It can stand alone as the main verb in a sentence.
Examples:
She writes a letter.
They played football.
I am happy.
โ โwrites,โ โplayed,โ and โamโ are finite verbs because they show tense and agree with the subject.
๐น Infinite (Non-finite) Verbs
An infinite (non-finite) verb does not change according to subject or tense.
๐ It cannot be the main verb alone; it needs a finite verb.
Types of non-finite verbs:
Infinitive (to + verb) โ to eat, to run
Gerund (-ing form used as a noun) โ eating, running
Participle (-ing or -ed forms used as adjectives) โ running water, broken glass
Examples:
She likes to read.
Swimming is fun.
The broken chair is useless.
โ โto read,โ โswimming,โ and โbrokenโ are non-finite verbs.
