Hirosaki is just 45min away from Aomori. This small and quiet city is worth a day or half a day of your time if you’re visiting Aomori and here’s how you can spend your time there: 1. Aomori is the prefecture of apples so there are a couple of apple installations inside and outside the JR station, including an apple-shaped Daruma, a postbox with an apple and the Hirosaki sign itself! These are picture-perfect and worth a short visit once you alight at the station. 2. As you stroll through the streets, you’ll get to see Mt Iwada towering majestically over the town. You’ll be able to see it once you’re visiting the places I mentioned in points 3 - 5 of my itinerary! Not as iconic as Mt Fuji but still breathtaking! 3. Taisho Roman Tea Room (大正浪漫喫茶室) is located in Fujita Memotial Garden and has floor to ceiling glass windows which boast a great view of the garden itself. Queues can be long so do arrive early and you have to get the q number from the iPad yourself (in Japanese but you’d be able to guess what they’re asking for). Most people want the window seats so if you opt for non-window seats the q will be way faster. The signature apple pies are delicious but the star for me is definitely the apple parfait!! There are so many layers to this - apple mousse, ice cream, cookie, cake etc and they harmonize perfectly in your mouth. 4. Once you‘re done with your food, you can just enter Fujita Memorial Garden. It is free during winter because the garden is covered in thick layers of snow. But it’s actually a quiet place to play with snow (build snowman) and if you walk to the edge of the park, you can see Mt Iwada too! 5. There are a couple iconic buildings in Hirosaki such as Starbucks Coffee and the former Hirosaki City Library, good photo spots! They‘re also located otw to Hirosaki Castle. 6. Last but not least, Hirosaki Castle. It is honestly very small but the park surrounding castle is a good stroll. (Con’t in caption) #vlog #japan #hirosaki #aomori #travel

Aomori is super underrated! Everyone should pay attention to this quiet but snowy city in Japan. Here the things I did in this prefecture: 1. Hirota Shrine is a great place to drop by in the city. This quaint shrine is known for being an apple shrine and its health amulets (both mental and physical)! 2. Speaking of apples, Aomori produces 60% of Japan’s apples and their apples are known to be sweet. If you love apples, this is the city to visit! A Factory here houses the largest selection of apple drinks, snacks and desserts. It’s always crowded with tourists who want to bring some good souvenirs home. Prices are very reasonable! 3. Located just 30mins away from Aomori city, Hirosaki city is great for a short day trip. Take a stroll in Fujita Garden and visit Hirosaki Castle, all while enjoying the majestic view of Mt Iwaki in the background! Hirosaki vlog coming up soon! 4. The highlight of my trip was definitely catching the snow monsters at Mt Hakkoda! Many people visit Mt Zao for that but Mt Hakkoda has them too! It was really a sight to behold. Vlog on how to get to Mt Hakkoda coming up soon! I’ve so much more to share on Aomori! What do you like most about this city? #Vlog #aomori #snow #japan #travel

Comment “Japan” for our free 26 page guide. 🇯🇵 Then don’t start with Tokyo or Kyoto - start with Aomori. Here are 4 reasons why Aomori is one of the best cherry blossom spots in Japan: 👇 🌸 One of Japan’s biggest cherry blossom festivals Aomori hosts the famous Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival, known for thousands of sakura trees and stunning views around Hirosaki Castle. 📅 Bloom happens later (Late April) Cherry blossoms arrive later than Tokyo & Kyoto, so you can start your trip here and then move south as the blossoms progress. 👥 Less crowd & cheaper hotels By the time you reach Tokyo & Kyoto, most peak crowds have already left, which often means better prices and fewer tourists. 🚄 Perfect if you’re using a JR Pass The Tokyo → Aomori Shinkansen route is fully covered by the JR Pass, so visiting here doesn’t add extra travel cost. ✨ Explore a side of Japan most tourists miss Aomori gives you a glimpse of authentic northern Japan that 90% of tourists never see. SAVE this video for your next trip to Japan 🇯🇵 The Tōhoku region by far has some of my most memorable experiences in Japan. It consists of Aomori Prefecture Iwate Prefecture Miyagi Prefecture Akita Prefecture Yamagata Prefecture Fukushima Prefecture and only sees about 1% of foreign tourist each year. Let’s change that! Here’s my itinerary: Day 1: Yamagata Prefecture - enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch eaten by the Yamabushi at Dewasanzan Shrine @dewasanzan.official Explore the area and climb 2,446 Ishidan stone steps with the help of a Sanpuku guide. Then head to Honcho (Oyama) which is pickling warehouse and learn about the history of pickles, heirloom vegetables, and local products. Includes sake tasting and food pairing! Stay the night at Kameya Hotel @kameyahotel 🏨 Day 2: Iwate Prefecture - Leave Yamagata and head to Iwate. Stop by @fujisei__mochi Fujisei for lunch, which includes a delicious array of different mochi dishes, which the Prefecture is famous for. Enjoy the beautiful scenery at Geibikei Gorge @geibikei2025 which includes a fun boat ride and activities. After that, explore Chūson-ji Temple @chusonji_temple_official and around the foothills of Mt. Tabashine which is a Japanese Agricultural Heritage site. Stay the night at Hiraizumi Hotel Musashibo @hotelmusashibou 🏨 Day 3: Fukushima Prefecture - leave Iwate and head to Fukushima. Enjoy lunch where the food is fresh and picked from the mountains at ガーデンカフェレストラン b Kitchen @b_kitchen__ Then enjoy a fun samurai training class with Samurai Method Kendigo @samurai.kengido Check into the “Demon slayer Hotel”, Ookawaso @aizu_ookawaso and enjoy the Onsen, food, and free shamisen performance. Day 4: It’s the last day in Fukushima and you will spend it learning about duck farming with Bond Farm @aki.rich.bond.farm ✨They are actually needing help and would love volunteers. They also provide a farm stay! Use my new hashtag #LocalsKnowCoco if you find a hidden gem yourself 💓 #japan #japanese #japantravel

Which sakura spot would you choose in Aomori? Hirosaki Park is one of Japan’s top cherry blossom destinations, famous for its sakura-filled moats and castle views. But Takayama Inari Shrine offers a quieter, more unique experience with torii gates winding through blooming trees. Two completely different vibes, same season. Save this for your Japan itinerary 🌸
