STMy biggest piece to date!
On April 7, 2025, I printed a 69” bluefin tuna caught with @stick_em_obx in 45 feet of water just outside Oregon inlet which was my biggest piece (at the time).
Then in August at the @piratescovebillfishtournament, I got the chance to print a headshot of a 601 lb blue marlin which dwarfed the bluefin print, and became the largest gyotaku and the first blue marlin I’ve ever done. I didn’t have material long enough on Thursday so I went out the next morning to get more fabric just in case.
Sure enough, an 878 blue marlin came to the scales later that afternoon and this is the rough gyotaku of that fish.
It was pretty hot that Friday, and it was a bit of a challenge in applying the ink as it would dry out by the time I got to the other end of the fish. Needless to say, it came out better than expected given the circumstances.
Never having built a stretch canvas frame (ever), this is my first frame I’ve ever made, and will now experiment with layering two materials together so I can start slinging paint on “Tiny”
