If you are ONLY relying on scale weight to determine whether or not you are making progress, you are not giving yourself nearly enough credit. So many markers of meaningful health and fitness progress happen beyond the scale and beyond what you see when you look at yourself in the mirror. Fixating on the scale weight tends to be the default way to measure progress, but it tells us very little without proper context! Do you NEED the scale? You don’t. Can it be helpful? It’s one data point that may help give you an idea of what’s going on in combination with other data points. At @eltmethod, we work closely with our clients to help meet their fitness goals, but we do it in a way that also takes their well-being and mental health into account. Are there foods you previously never let yourself eat that you now enjoy? What kinds of movement and strength progress have you experienced lately? Are you being kinder to yourself rather than beating yourself up at every turn? Are you doing cardio because you it feels good, not because you’re not punishing yourself? What is something you’re doing consistently well now that you were not doing one month, three months, six months ago? To me, a client making significant strides in improving their relationship with food, exercise, and their body is FAR more exciting than a drop in scale weight. ❤️
