VIDrones which are assembled from flatpacks have reportedly destroyed at least four Russian planes.
The Ukrainians have had the drones, which cost around $3,500 each, since March this year. The Australian government promised 100 of them a month as part of a $20 million deal.
Ukraine’s Security Service said 1 Mig-29 and 4 Su-30 fighter jets were hit during an attack on the night of the 26th-27th of August on an airfield in Kursk, western Russia.
They may reportedly have also been involved in an attack on the 29th of August on 6 military locations in Russia, including a military airbase at Pskov, near the Estonian border.
The drone is made by Australian company SYPAQ Systems, weighs 5.3 lbs when it's empty, and carries payloads of up to 6.6 lbs at a time, with a range of 75 miles (120 km). Its frame is made of waxed cardboard and it runs on open-source software and standard hardware.
