RIRecent choreo for a tall gymnast with beautifully long limbs 💖 I wanted to create a floor routine that shows off her height ~ so I incorporated lots of kicks and extended sweeping movements with the arms and legs in her dance. It's so fun to work with gymnasts of varying body types. They inspire me to come up with different combinations of moves to highlight their unique strengths.
Any fellow tall gymnasts out there? 😁🙋🏼♀️🤸🏻♀️ By the time I was finishing my time competing in the sport, I was about 5'6" and one of the tallest on my team. Yes, it may have presented some challenges, and a few more foot taps on the low bar than others...but, it can also be a positive asset, especially when it comes to your dance artistry on floor and beam. 💕
So my Choreography Tip for working with tall gymnasts is to celebrate them 🎉🎉, and highlight their long limbs with dance that accentuates them! ...Grand sweeping gestures, flowy and straight arms, kicks and splits!
