Going with the flow 💧 In space, we get a unique look at fluids, and we’re taking advantage of that in our station science experiments!   💧Researchers investigating certain diseases on Earth must contend with the forces of gravity and the interaction between liquids and containers. The Ring Sheared Drop research team developed a device that uses surface tension rather than a solid container to hold liquids in microgravity. This enables scientists to remove the forces that differ from interfaces in the body they are attempting to model, gaining new insights into the diseases.   💧A space station Delta Faucet experiment used microgravity to evaluate water drop formation and flow from a showerhead to create better performance, improve user experience, and conserve water and energy.   💧On Earth, capillary forces, the small pushes and pulls that move liquid through a narrow tube, are overshadowed by gravity. In microgravity, these tiny forces come to the surface. Capillary systems can be simpler to use than current water-purification and air-cleaning systems. They rely on specific geometric shapes and fluid dynamics rather than complex pumps and machinery to move and store liquid.   #science #space #nasa #spacestation #research #experiment #scienceexperiment #astronaut #fluids #fluidsresearch #iss #microgravity #surfacetension #astronauts #water

We love your work Philipp Welsing! 😍 @welsing3d created this Pyro-to-Heightfield workflow using Houdini and rendered it using Karma XPU. Philipp is a Houdini Artist, and he has used Houdini extensively both in private explorations and in commercial work. He now works exclusively in Houdini for modeling, animation, simulation, shading, lighting, and rendering.   Check out his course: MPM Gel Smear FX, which will cover the full workflow of viscous fluid smearing simulation using Houdini’s MPM solver. You will learn to create art-directable gel shapes, configure brush colliders, and implement stable bubble systems while avoiding intersections. https://bit.ly/hs-mpm-gel   Join our Discord to meet many Houdini artists worldwide.   Link in bio.   #sidefxhoudini #procedural #fluids #karmaxpu #mpm

Fun with surface tension in space! 💧 Surface tension describes a property of liquids in which molecules of one substance are more attracted to each other than molecules of another substance, causing them to “stick together”. Using microgravity to display the unique properties of liquids in space can reveal fundamental knowledge that can change our lives back on Earth. Microgravity experiments with fluids can give scientists new ways to study disease, understand catastrophic mudflows on Earth, and find ways to improve consumer products. They can also offer an opportunity for some fun for Space Station astronauts.😉 #International #Space #Station #Physics #Fluids #Research #Astronauts

Too much water is toxic 👇 🔄 Share this with someone who needs it 1️⃣ Water overload is real – Dilutes sodium in your blood – Causes headaches, nausea, brain fog 2️⃣ When to drink – 1-2 glasses right after waking – 1 glass 30 mins before meals – Sip during meals, don’t chug – Hydrate between 2-4pm for energy 3️⃣ How much you actually need – Body weight (kg) x 0.033 = liters per day – Adjust for activity and climate – Thirst is your best guide 4️⃣ Signs you’re overhydrating – Clear urine all day – Frequent bathroom trips – Feeling bloated after drinking More isn’t always better. Hydrate with intention. 🔁 Share this with someone who chugs water all day 👣 Follow @livevitae for real health education #hydration #waterintake #electrolytes #holistichealth #fluids

How can a tiny push lift a GIANT car? The answer is Pascal's Law! 🚀 This law states that pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted undiminished to every portion of the fluid and the walls of the container. Our Reel breaks down this fundamental principle of hydrostatics that makes car brakes, hydraulic lifts, and heavy machinery work! 💡 . . . . . . . . #pascalslaw #fluidmechanics #hydrostatics #class11physics #fluids #PhysicsHacks #StudyTips #JEEPreparation #NEETPhysics #ScienceExplained #Hydraulics #cbse2026 #ExamReady #StudyGram #physicsconcepts

a special type of fluid called a Non-Newtonian fluid. 🧪 The specific type you mean: It’s called a Shear thickening fluid. 🧠 How it behaves When you move slowly → it flows like a liquid 🫗 When you hit or move fast → it becomes hard like a solid 🪨 So: Soft touch = liquid Fast force = solid 🧬 Why this happens Inside the fluid are tiny particles suspended in liquid. At low speed → particles slide past each other At high speed → particles jam together and resist movement This “jamming” makes it feel solid instantly. 🧪 Simple example (you can try) Mix: Cornstarch + water This creates “Oobleck”: Punch it → feels solid Let it sit → melts like liquid 🛡️ Real-world uses 🦺 Body armor (flexible but impact-resistant) 🏃‍♂️ Sports gear (knee/elbow protection) 🚗 Shock absorbers 🛰️ Space tech (impact protection) #nonnewtonianfluid #Technology #fluids #learning

Non-Newtonian fluids seem like liquid magic: you can sink your fingers gently into them, but upon receiving the violent impact of a hammer, they instantly become solid and impenetrable. This dramatic change in behavior defies our intuition about how liquids should function. The secret lies in the molecular structure of these extraordinary materials. Under low pressure, particles slide freely over each other, behaving like liquid. But when sudden force is applied, these particles quickly interlock, creating a temporarily rigid structure that distributes and absorbs the impact. This chameleon-like property has completely transformed the field of personal and industrial protection. Modern bulletproof vests incorporate layers of these fluids, offering comfortable flexibility in daily life but rigid protection at the critical moment of a projectile's impact. Applications continue to expand: sports equipment that protects athletes without limiting their movements, smart speed bumps that allow smooth passage at low speeds but harden against reckless drivers, and even smartphone coatings that absorb accidental drops. The counter-intuitive nature of these materials is redefining how we think about protection. #newtonian #fluids #physics #science #technology

AT @stuttgartairport, WE USE TYPE I 🟠 AND TYPE IV 🟢| TYPE I 🟠 ORANGE - THIN - HOT → REMOVES ICE (DE-ICING) - SHORT HOLDOVER TIME | TYPE II 🟡 AMBER - THICKER → ANTI-ICING - MEDIUM DURATION | TYPE III 🟡 YELLOW - MEDIUM VISCOSITY → ANTI-ICING - SLOW AIRCRAFT | TYPE IV 🟢 GREEN - GEL-LIKE → ANTI-ICING - LONG-LASTING (HOLDOVER TIME) DE-ICING — REMOVES EXISTING CONTAMINATION (ICE - SNOW OR FROST. USUALLY DONE WITH TYPE I 🟠 - HEATED, ORANGE / RED - SHORT-TERM EFFECT FLUID -THIN - IS THEREFORE ONLY USED IN A 1-STEP PROCEDURE WHEN THERE IS NO PRECIPITATION | ANTI-ICING — PREVENTS NEW ICE FORMATION BEFORE TAKEOFF.
