The Foloi Oak Forest is a stunning natural area located in the region of Ilia in western Peloponnese, Greece, not far from the villages of Foloi and Lala.
It is one of the most remarkable and unique forests in Greece and holds historical, ecological, and mythical significance.
The forest is situated on the Foloi Plateau, approximately 600-650 meters above sea level. It covers around 33,000 acres and consists mainly of Valonian oak (Quercus macrolepis), a unique type of oak tree known for its wide canopy and acorns.
Although the Foloi forest consists mainly of oaks, which are deciduous trees, Black Pine has been planted in a part of the forest.
The forest changes its appearance with the seasons, offering stunning views in every season.
Foloi Oak Forest is one of the few remaining oak forests in the Balkans and is part of the Natura 2000 network, which protects ecologically significant areas in Europe.
