FMBetween 1975 and 1976, the American Freedom Train rolled across the nation behind steam and steel, carrying the story of America in motion. Fifty years later, we can revisit that story as the Freedom Train's inaugural steam locomotive has been cosmetically restored and returned to its original ceremonial dress.
We recently partnered with the B&O Railroad Museum for their rehabilitation of American Freedom Train No. 1, and one of the finishing touches in the 5-month effort was the recreation of the Great Seal of the United States — a meticulous, hand-painted work.
