Turn on video mode with the camera light on continuous 4. Get the tapetal reflection using your phone 5. Pop the condensing lens down You can buy cheap condensing lenses as good starting lenses - 30d or 2.2 pan retinal is a good size for dogs and cats. In subalbinotic animals, a lack of pigmentation in the retinal pigment epithelium means the underlying choroidal vessels become visible: those striking red, tiger-striped lines in the non-tapetal region.
