JUHere are 5 things I wish I knew when I started my gamedev journey 10 years ago 🙌 | Part 2
1️⃣ You’ll learn more from making 5 small games than 1 big one
Many new developers dream of making their big game immediately.
But finishing multiple small games teaches you far more about design, scope, and production. This gives you essential experiences to eventually build that dream game of yours.
2️⃣ The games industry has more to offer than just AAA
When people think about game development, they often think about AAA studios.
But the industry is much bigger than that.
Indie studios, mobile games, serious games, education, and simulation all offer exciting opportunities.
3️⃣ You don’t need to specialize right away
Early in your career, it is okay to explore different areas.
Gameplay programming, tools, UI, AI, graphics.
Trying different things helps you discover what you truly enjoy.
4️⃣ Every company does things differently
I worked at quite a few studios at this point and know many developers from different studios. And all I see is that everyone does things differently. How they manage tasks, how they ship features, how they measure success. Literally everything is always different.
Learning to adapt quickly is an important skill in this industry.
5️⃣ Data matters. Not every good idea fits the game
Sometimes an idea sounds great in theory.
But player data and testing may show something else. This is why it's important to test intensively and not overdo a feature or attach to it too much.
Great game development means listening to players and adjusting when needed.

KXDay 8 of my game dev journey 🎮
Today was all about fixing what I broke… and making it better.
The attacking system is finally working smooth and clean after a lot of debugging.
Not gonna lie — bugs slowed me down, but they also taught me a lot.
This is the real process of building a game from scratch.
Next step: rebuilding the enemy system with better logic and cleaner code.
