Crocodile vs Alligator, How to Tell the Difference - We created this video to clearly show the key differences between crocodiles and alligators. From snout shape and visible teeth to coloration and habitat, this cinematic wildlife breakdown explains how to identify each species instantly. Crocodiles dominate saltwater environments with narrow V-shaped snouts and visible upper and lower teeth, while alligators prefer freshwater habitats and have broader U-shaped snouts with only upper teeth showing.

Can Alligators/Crocodiles run 30 mph? Alligators & Crocodiles average around 11 mph maximum speed in very short bursts (often 1-2 seconds). They are not built for land speed which is why they have extremely short legs. You may be asking, what about the Cuban Crocodile which gallops on land like a horse? Well, they gallop on land like a mammal would but, their legs are STILL too short to run at high speeds & they lack stamina to run for long periods of time (usually a few seconds per burst). The average human can run 12-15 mph which is a lot faster than any crocodilian & for a lot longer. Meaning that the chances of a person out running a crocodilian is close to 100%. If they can’t…….. then maybe it was their time to go. @wildfloridairboats

How fast can an Alligator run!? There’s a lot of conjecture about this, so let me start by saying Crocodilians are NOT built for land speed. Crocodilians are long animals with short legs and a low centre of gravity. The larger species are also very bulky and heavy. The Australian Freshwater Crocodile is the fastest crocodilian on land, with a top running speed of around 16km an hour (10mph) over short distances. This is based on documented, observed, repeatable sprint performance in open habitat. Their lunge/burst speed is slightly faster, at around 20km an hour (12.4mph) Freshies are relatively small and, along with the Cuban Crocodile, have the ability to gallop. This gives them a terrestrial edge. Alligators on the other hand are very heavy set animals, and while their lunge/burst speed is around 18km an hour (11mph) their sustained running speed is around 8-10km an hour over very short distances.. all crocodilians are low endurance animals and tire out very quickly. They can NOT run at 35mile an hour (that’s faster than Usain Bolt) and suggestion that crocs can outpace a horse over the first 50metres is absolutely ridiculous. The average human can sprint at around 24km an hour (15mph) for at least 40-50metres, so unless you’re above 60 with arthritis in both knees or only have 1 leg, no croc is gonna catch you on land.. that said, having a hungry croc on your six is rather motivating so you’ll be shuffling/hopping like your life depends on it 😂 🏃🏼‍♂️🐊 Shout out to @bill_collett_ and @brandon_troy_gifford__ doing a great job with these American Alligators as they demonstrate both the belly walk and high walk at the @australianreptilepark

This is why it’s illegal to feed wild gators in Florida!! 😂Happy National gator day!! Here I am filming my fiancée @gabbynikolle with Stallone the nuisance gator who was being illegally fed in the wild before coming to us as a nuisance gator. Once fed, they associate people with food, and if you don’t give the food you ARE the food!! But this is not how gators attack prey, this is a feeding response chase of a fed animal, not a normal wild gator hunting strategy. As you can see, if a gator chases you, YOU JUST RUN!!! NO ZIGZAG!!! The whole zigzag thing is a stupid myth😂. Normally we train this behavior out of the gators to be more calm, but I’m debating on keeping it since it’s a good demonstration of what they can do! I also have a few videos of him running after me I’ll post, but Gabby’s version is way better 😂🐊. ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that would’ve otherwise been destroyed. The state of Florida destroys 8,000 “nuisance” gators annually, but we don’t have a nuisance gators problem but rather a nuisance HUMAN problem. 1k people a day move to FL, unsustainably developing the land, and a lot of ignorant people making a nuisance out of themselves. NEVER feed a wild gator, never have kids or pets near the water, and never swim in gator habitat! And of course, never attempt anything you see in my videos! Remember guys, we support our sanctuary through social media, so if you’d like to help the animals (for free), please like, leave a positive comment, and share!! We greatly appreciate it and so do the animals! If you would like to donate to the care of the sanctuary animals, we greatly appreciate any support!! 🎥💥TURN UP THE VOLUME! You’ve got to hear this wild moment between two of our Gatorland Global rescue alligators🐊🎧👇 Grady Gator was bellowing his heart out, trying to fight and flirt with Turnpike’s girlfriend (also a rescue!)… and Turnpike was NOT having it. 😤💪 But instead of throwing claws, Turnpike swam over and let Grady know—that’s not OK. There was no fight, but if you listen closely, you can hear subtle sounds from Turnpike that sent a clear message: BACK OFF. Alligators and crocodiles communicate in ways you may not even notice—deep bellows, low-frequency rumbles, body postures, head slaps, and even sounds we can’t hear. 🤯 🐊 Animal communication is complex and amazing—and this is proof! 💬 Drop a comment if YOU heard Turnpike’s warning call—and tag someone who needs to learn about how smart these animals really are! #gatorland #tescue #alligator #alligators #gatorlandglobal
