Tech Motion no.13 | Precision Milling Simulation For this exploration, I wanted to visualize the CNC Milling process, the backbone of industrial prototyping, mold-making, and precision engraving. This aesthetic is perfect for Process-Driven" storytelling in high-end product launches, showing the raw journey from a solid block of metal to a refined component. The Technical Workflow: Path Animation: I started with a base cuboidal object and defined a complex "zigzag" toolpath for the milling head to follow. Mograph Setup: Using the C4D Cloner, I distributed cylinders along that path to act as the "cutting bit." I then animated their position from 0% to 100% to simulate the continuous removal of material. Volume Modeling: The magic happens in the Volume Builder and Volume Mesher. By using a Boolean subtraction logic within the volume setup, I was able to create a smooth, procedural "carved" effect as the cloner moves through the base object. Tools: Cinema 4D, Redshift, After Effects. Workflow guided by a Lukas Thorup tutorial with his milling texture and chipping animation inspiration from ManvsMachine.
