Follow for more easy-to-follow tips for better baby sleep 😴 The 5 & 8 Rule (step-by-step guide) This works best when your baby is fussy and you’re trying to avoid the “wake during transfer” moment. 1️⃣ Walk around for 5 minutes Hold baby snug against your chest Steady pace. Low lights. Minimal talking. The movement helps regulate their nervous system and lower heart rate. 2️⃣ Watch for the softening signs • Breathing slows 🌬 • Body feels heavier 💤 • Hands unclench ✋ • Crying stops 🤫 3️⃣ Stop walking (don’t transfer yet) This is where most parents rush and the transfer fails. 4️⃣ Hold completely still for 8 minutes Same position. No bouncing. This gives their body time to shift into deeper sleep. 5️⃣ Quick “arm test” Gently lift their arm and let it fall. If it drops loosely, you’re usually in the safer transfer window. 6️⃣ Slow transfer (30–60 seconds) Feet/bottom first 👣 Then shoulders and head. Keep your hands resting on their chest for a few breaths before stepping away. If they fully wake, restart If they just squirm, pause before intervening It’s not magic ✨ It’s timing ⏰ If this tip has been helpful, comment CALM and I’ll send you the full step by step guide to better sleep for you and your little one 🤍 #newborn #babysleeptips #gentlesleeptraining #newmom

How we went from co sleeping and rocking to sleep at 7 months old to self soothing in his own cot 🤍 (Back story) At about 7 months old Charlie’s sleep started going downhill and we ended up Co sleeping. It got to the point where I was having to go to bed with him at 7pm every-night and couldn’t put him down without him waking up. We decided to contact a sleep coach and she put a plan in place using gentle sleep training. It took 3 nights for us to crack it and he’s been sleeping 6pm - 6:30/7am since (now almost 3 years old), he now gets himself to sleep every-night and don’t hear a peep from him all night -obviously this can change slightly if he’s unwell or overtired but it’s very rare it disturbs his sleep😴 We moved him into his own room at the start of sleep training, laid him down and rubbed his back for a minute or so and left the room whilst he was awake, we would go in everytime he cried, repeat and walk out and go back in when he cried and so on. The first night it took around 45 minutes of going in and out every 2/3 minutes but eventually when he realised we would come back if he needed us, he just stopped crying and went to sleep. This went on for 3 nights, on the second night it took 20 minutes and the third night only took around 10 minutes. Sleep training isn’t for everyone but using a gentle technique to get Charlie sleeping in his own room changed our life, definitely wish we’d have done it sooner! He’s now been in his own room for almost 2 years and he sleeps so much better than when he was in our bed! #sleeptraining #gentlesleeptraining #toddlermum #mumhacks #toddlersleeptips #toddlersleeptraining #motherhood

All babies wake up multiple times a night, so do we! That’s just how sleep works. Every 1–2 hours, the brain naturally moves through a full sleep cycle and briefly wakes to “check in.” If everything feels the same - same room, same position, same environment - you (or your baby) drift right back to sleep and never even remember it. But if something’s different: the pacifier’s missing, the rocking stopped, mom isn’t there, the boob is gone. That tiny wakeup turns into a full wakeup with crying. So it’s not that your baby wakes up more often than others. They just need your help each time to fall back asleep. That’s why you feel like you’re on call all night rocking, feeding, bouncing, or replacing the pacifier. If you’ve tried capping naps, adding feeds, tweaking wake windows, or pushing bedtime later… and nothing changed? This is usually why. Because the root cause isn’t the schedule, it’s the falling-asleep piece. The way your baby falls asleep at bedtime is likely the same way they’ll expect to fall back asleep at 11pm, 2am, and 4am. And these aren’t “bad” habits! They’re just sleep associations that’s your baby has learned to rely on to fall asleep. And as morning approaches (when sleep is lightest), those wakeups start happening even more often. Here’s the truth most people miss 👇🏼 Babies who sleep long stretches aren’t “better sleepers.” They’ve simply learned how to link their sleep cycles on their own. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. And it’s a skill you can gently teach, and in a way that fits your baby 𝒂𝒏𝒅 your parenting style. When your baby learns how to fall asleep in the crib without needing you to do it for them, everything shifts: ✨ Longer stretches of sleep ✨ Fewer wakeups ✨ More rest for everyone This isn’t about fixing your baby, it’s about helping them master a natural skill that makes sleep smooth and sustainable. ✨ Follow @the.sleep.spot for realistic, evidence-based baby sleep guidance that actually works ✨ #babysleeptips #gentlesleeptraining #4monthsleepregression #newmomlife #sleepconsultant

I am a big believer in attachment, but so many parents think sleep training or doing anything to improve a baby’s sleep has to involve lots of tears, but there are super gentle methods like mine that actually promote the attachment bond. My baby knows how to put herself to sleep, but she also knows I will always come if she truly needs me, she just doesn’t need me that often because she feels safe and comfortable falling asleep in her crib 💕 If you want to learn all about how to do this with your baby & join the thousands of parents who have taken my baby sleep class, head to the 🔗 in my bio or hhsleep.com for my baby sleep class - it’s just $35! 👶💤🌙 and follow me @kendraworth for lots of free tips! #babysleep #newbornsleep #sleepconsultant #infantsleep #gentleparenting #gentlesleeptraining #sleeptips #gentlesleeptraining #sleephelp #momlife #tiredmom #parentingtips

If someone is pressuring you to sleep train your baby under the age of one, send them this😱 Sleep training under the age of one, especially in the first six months, can be considered damaging by some experts for a few reasons: 1. Emotional Security & Attachment – Babies rely on caregivers for comfort, and responding to their cries helps build a secure attachment. Ignoring their cries too early can lead to stress and insecurity. 2. Brain Development – Infants’ brains are rapidly developing, and prolonged distress (such as crying without comfort) can increase cortisol (a stress hormone), which may impact emotional regulation later in life. 3. Nutritional Needs – Many babies under one, especially those under six months, still need night feedings for proper growth and development. Sleep training may lead to missed feedings that are essential. 4. Self-Regulation – Babies are not developmentally capable of self-soothing in the early months. They need co-regulation (comfort from a caregiver) to learn how to manage stress. 5. Increased Risk of SIDS – Certain sleep training methods that involve long periods of unresponsiveness can increase stress levels, which may contribute to unsafe sleep situations. That being said, gentle sleep strategies that focus on supporting a baby’s natural sleep patterns without prolonged crying can be beneficial. Responsive approaches, like offering comfort while encouraging independent sleep, can be a good middle ground. I’m sharing this to share why WE chose not to sleep train our baby, not to judge anyone else’s decisions. #InfantSleep #GentleParenting #SleepTraining #NewMomLife #MomTips #ParentingSupport #BabySleep #SecureAttachment #MotherhoodUnplugged #GentleSleepTraining #LowToxLiving #MomLife #FirstTimeMom #NaturalParenting #HolisticMotherhood #MindfulParenting #AttachmentParenting #SleepTrainingDebate #BreastfeedingMama #ConsciousParenting #RespectfulParenting ,

You feed them. You rock them. You do everything right. Two hours later… they’re up again. And everyone says: “They’re just hungry.” For newborns? Yes. Often they are. In the first 8–12 weeks, frequent waking is normal, necessary, and healthy. Especially for breastfed babies who digest quickly. We want that. But after the newborn phase, many 2-hour wake-ups aren’t about hunger. They’re about regulation. Around 4 months, babies begin cycling through sleep stages more like adults. Some nervous systems reconnect sleep smoothly. Others spike into alert mode. So they cry. And feeding becomes the fastest way to calm the spike. Not because you’re doing anything wrong. Not because connection is bad. Not because feeding is wrong. But because the foundation underneath sleep isn’t stable yet. And this is where most parents get stuck. They try to fix wake-ups directly. But night wakings are often a bedtime structure problem. When I stopped trying to “fix” every wake-up and started building regulation before sleep… everything shifted. No cry it out. No ignoring hunger. No forcing independence. Just structure. Predictability. Nervous system support. Within days, bedtime felt calmer. Within a week, longer stretches started showing up. If your baby is 0–6 months and you’re stuck in the 90–120 minute loop after the newborn phase… 👀 Comment “SLEEP” to get the full 7-Day Calm Nights system. 🥰 It shows you exactly what to change, in what order, over 7 simple evenings — so you build sleep that actually holds. Connection and rest can coexist. Currently on sale! #babysleep #gentlesleeptraining #babysleephelp #babysleeptips #sleepdeprivedmom videocredit: alla_momlife (TT)

🌙🤍 The Middle Ground of Sleep Training The biggest thing that held me back from working on sleep was the thought of leaving my baby to cry alone. I just could not do it 🙅‍♀️💔 For the longest time, it felt like the only two options were no sleep ever or cry it out. But there is a middle ground, and finding it changed everything for us. Cribside comfort lets you stay present while your baby learns how to fall asleep in their own space. You are right there offering touch, your voice, and reassurance instead of walking away. It supports sleep skills without sacrificing connection or trust. This approach takes patience, but watching your baby drift off peacefully while knowing you are close is such a powerful win for both of you ✨ 💬 Comment CRIBSIDE if you want the full breakdown and I will send you my free step by step blog post that walks you through exactly how to do this gently. #gentlesleeptraining #cribsidecomfort #babysleephelp #attachmentparenting #momlife

TEACH YOUR BABY TO SELF-SOOTHE TO GET LONGER STRETCHES OF SLEEP BY… Consistently soothing them yourself. So what’s the difference between self-soothing and self-settling? Self-settling = a baby waking after a sleep cycle and sending themselves back to sleep. If your baby has ever slept for longer than 2 hours, then they have self-settled! Self-soothing = moving from a state of dysregulation to a state of calm without any external input. Babies are *neurologically incapable* of achieving this (watch video to see why). Most babies will naturally self-settle at some point - this, and self-soothing, are NOT skills that can be taught. If they are not self-settling between sleep cycles (and they’re calling out to you instead), it’s because they NEED something. And they need you to fix it for them! Building true self-regulation comes from consistent co-regulation at a young age. Of course, if your baby is crying out so often during the night it’s becoming unsustainable, there are ways this can be addressed - without sleep training! (We use the term sleep training to mean ANY non-responsive methods) ——— 🫶🏼 Do you want support with sleep that doesn’t involve ignoring your baby’s cries? 💬 Comment SLEEP and we’ll pop a link into your DMs to book a best-fit call. 📞 It’s relaxed, no obligation to book, and you can take the call from anywhere. Many parents leave with reassurance, even if they don’t go on to book. If you do want support but aren’t sure if it’s affordable, payment plans are available.

know this won’t be everyone’s choice. But I was exhausted. My 4-month-old was waking every 2 hours. I thought it was hunger. It wasn’t. He didn’t need more feeding. He needed to learn how to fall back asleep. The first night was hard. By Day 7, he had a new skill. Not because I ignored him. Not because I stopped caring. Because I stayed consistent. And now? Longer stretches. Calmer nights. A baby who knows how to settle. If you’re stuck in the 2-hour wake cycle and you’re running on empty… Comment SLEEP and I’ll send you the exact gentle plan I used. #babysleeptips #gentlesleeptraining #4monthsleepregression #californiamoms #texasmoms
