This was one of those seasons in life that felt like it would never end, but in retrospect, went by in a blink. And what a joy it was to raise these puppies for humans who are as special as they are. I marvel at the people who comprise our Nicholberry family. And I marvel at who these puppies become during their eight weeks with us. 🐾 A lot of you have asked how I’m feeling today and honestly, bone tired. But also, a satisfaction that is bone deep. I know that as far as it’s up to me, I selected parents who have full health clearances and whose temperaments are a credit to the breed. And as for their socialization, I left it all on the field. I can’t quite find the words to express how I’m feeling, but it’s a mixture of satisfaction and hope. May these puppies all go out into their worlds and become happy, confident, resilient dogs who change the world around them. 🐾 Godspeed, little ones. 🐾 #puppybrain #gotcha #gotchaday #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverpuppies 🐾

The first 3 days will shape how safe your puppy feels in their new home ⭐️ 3 Things to Avoid on their First 3 Days Home 1️⃣ No new visitors or meeting new dogs yet Let your puppy adjust first. Day 1 is for bonding with you and meeting too many new people / dogs can add stress to a already overwhelming day 2️⃣ No baths the first 3 days Let them keep their familiar scent. Day 1 should be about comfort and security. Baths are a huge sensory experience and should be done in baby steps. Bathing them too soon and too fast can create a fear of baths later on 3️⃣ Too much freedom too soon Day 1 needs predictability. A puppy-proofed safe space can help them feel safe and secure. Puppies settle faster in smaller areas because too much space can feel overwhelming. This can also make potty training harder later on. Happy Gotcha Day to our sweet Graffiti. This was 7 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday 🥺. Poppa and I just started dating and I convinced him to get a puppy from Brady’s breeder. We drove 5 hours to her home and got to meet all the pups! (except for one) Graffiti was pre-chosen for us, and he seemed to know. He was the most calm and relaxed out of all his siblings, and turned out to be an angel of a puppy to raise. They always say it’s the second child that will test you, but in this case it was the opposite!   It wasn’t exactly the right time for Poppa to get a dog (before we moved in together he was just poppa’s dog). But now we look back and realize this was one of the best decisions we ever made ❤️. We love you Gdog! You make our lives better in every way and cannot imagine life without you. We’re so blessed to have you in our lives.  #gotchaday #puppy #corgipuppy
