Oakleaf hydrangeas! This particular one is Ruby Slippers, which is a dwarf variety! The foliage and flowers on these are absolutely beautiful, and mine have had incredible growth over the last year since they were planted despite giving them hardly any attention! These will tolerate HEAT, drought, and poor soil, as long as it is well-drained!

Flowering Date is Early to midsummer (flowers will turn burgundy and last until late summer!)

SESince you all have enjoyed my last Endless Summer Hydrangea reel, I thought I’d do a month by month progression of how these beauties perform from beginning of season thru till the end.
Endless Summer Hydrangeas are a macrophylla which bloom from old wood as well as new wood which gives a longer bloom time in most areas since first blooms begin on old wood from the previous year.
Last year, we had a late frost which killed off our old wood blooms, but in warmer climates (higher hardiness zones), those blooms would have delighted us earlier in the blooming season.
I love how each month represents a significant and different growth period. I love October almost as much as I love July. Watching these shrubs fill out and grow in height over the seasons is as much rewarding as seeing the blooms change in colour.

Dreaming of big, beautiful Annabelle hydrangeas this summer? 🤍 Cut back last year’s stems to 15–30 cm when the buds appear and the risk of frost has passed. I usually prune mine from mid to late April here in Zone 2.
Feed with fertilizer for acid-loving plants, and keep the soil moist.
She’ll thank you with stunning white blooms

Our little lime hydrangeas are thriving in our New England climate and they were so big and beautiful this season!
We own a wedding venue and knew that we wanted a statement hedge in front of our wedding barn to soften the architecture and add a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos.
It was an initial investment but the results are better than we could have ever hoped for!
Our little lime hydrangeas are planted in full sun and we cut each shrub back to 24” tall in April. We add a generous layer of Hollytone fertilizer and fresh bulk mulch and wait for the blooms to appear in July.
We are so happy with how they’ve grown over the last four years and we hope they bring you lots of joy as well!
