A leader understands what they do. A manager runs the schedule. A leader could step in and perform. If you want to lead well, you don’t start with authority. You start with competence. Get to know your people. Learn their roles. Be sharp enough at their craft that they know you’re not guessing. Respect isn’t demanded. It’s earned through understanding and ability.
