The Prophet ๏ทบ said:
โAllah has ghayrah, and the believer has ghayrahโฆโ
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5220, Sahih Muslim 2761)
Scholars explain ghayrah as:
โข protective concern
โข care for dignity and modesty
โข sensitivity toward clear immorality
It is a quality connected to honor and responsibility โ not control.
What is a dayyลซth?
The Prophet ๏ทบ said:
โThree will not enter Paradiseโฆ and the dayyลซth.โ
(Sunan an-Nasaโi 2562)
Classical scholars define a dayyลซth as:
๐ A man who has no concern when clear immorality (fฤแธฅishah) happens in his family.
This refers to: โข accepting indecency
โข ignoring serious moral violations
What it does NOT mean
A man is NOT a dayyลซth if he:
โข respects his wife
โข trusts her
โข allows her to see her family
โข does not control her unnecessarily
That is not lack of ghayrah โ
that is good character.
Islam sets the standard clearly
โLive with them in kindness (maโroof).โ
(Qurโan 4:19)
Marriage in Islam is based on: โข respect
โข balance
โข dignity
โnot fear, pressure, or control.
The real difference
Ghayrah protects honor.
Control restricts freedom.
Islam commands ghayrah โ
but it does not justify insecurity or domination.
