PIWish I knew about this earlier… would’ve saved me from carrying a gimbal everywhere.
Here’s the exact workflow using Gyroflow:
1. Shoot your footage
– Turn OFF Active Stabilisation
– Keep shutter slightly higher (but not too high)
2. Go to gyroflow.xyz
– Download Gyroflow
– Install the plugin for your editor (I use DaVinci Resolve)
3. Install the plugin
– Place it here:
/Library/OFX/Plugins
4. Open DaVinci Resolve
– Preferences → Video Plugins → make sure Gyroflow is enabled
5. Apply it
– Go to Fusion page
– Search “Gyroflow”
– Add the node
6. Load your clip
– Click “Load for current file”
OR
– “Browse” and select your clip
7. IMPORTANT
– Open your clip in Gyroflow first
– Set the correct lens profile (match your camera + lens)
8. Back in Resolve
– Adjust Smoothness
– 50 = default
– 10–20 = more natural
– Find what fits your shot
This isn’t a perfect replacement for a gimbal —
– Not great for heavy vertical movement
– Struggles with extreme shake
– Doesn’t work in some modes (like S&Q / certain high FPS)
But for most handheld shots… it’s a game changer.
Once you start using this, it’s very hard to go back.
