Use a 70mm or a x3 zoom on your phone 🍹 2️⃣ High Angle/overhead - gives a good layout of the area from a unique perspective, extra bonus if have a drone ✈️ 3️⃣ Eye Level - shoot through features to create layers. This one’s probably going to ruffle some feathers… but someone has to say it: Hotels aren’t paying for the “photos you forgot about on your phone.” I’ve seen way too many creators online claiming you can build a 6-figure business just licensing iPhone pics. As someone who worked as a hotel marketing manager and now as a full-time hotel photographer for 5+ years, I promise you: That’s not how this industry works. Yes, licensing is a thing. Yes, SOME hotels buy UGC or repost travel content. But here’s the truth that doesn’t get shared as often: ➡️ Licensing of “personal work” accounts for less than 5% of my revenue. What hotels actually pay for: ➡️ High-quality, intentional photoshoots ➡️ Wide shots they can use for website banners, brochures, homepage sliders ➡️ Lifestyle shots for ads and social media content that sell a feeling, not just a room ➡️ Detail shots that reinforce their brand identity, textures, amenities, decor Hotels have real marketing budgets. They’re not looking for random pics from someone’s camera roll. They’re investing in brand-consistent, professional content created with a clear purpose. 👉 If you’re serious about working with hotels, focus on building a portfolio that looks like it belongs on their website, not just your camera roll.

If other hotels, airbnbs, and resorts can take away a few things from Hotel Iroquois’ incredible social media marketing, let it be this: 1: Please for the love of God, get on TikTok if you aren’t already. TikTok’s algorithm is insane in that it serves users the exact type of content that suits their interest. I’d say it’s better than IG. And when it comes to travel inspiration and trip planning, people are using TikTok (and IG) as a visual search platform and looking there even before Google. 2. Create content that virtually transports viewers to your property. Heavy on the POV, the little moments, and details that show what it’s actually like to be there. Hotel Iroquois truly picks the best, most perfectly aligned music to go with their videos, which furthers the feeling of being there through your screen. 3. Invest in and prioritize short-form video. Not only is short-form video more engaging and can tell a deeper story of what’s being shown, but it’s also what visual platforms like TikTok and Instagram favor and proven to reach new audiences better than static photos or even carousels. 4. Incorporate content of the destination that you’re property is in. When you’re selling a stay at your hotel or airbnb, you’re also selling the destination. Include landscapes, lifestyle shots, scenery, restaurants, activities, etc. in your content. 5. Avoid hard selling too much on social. Social media users don’t come onto socials to be sold to — they want to be entertained, inspired, or educated. It’s okay to incorporate some bottom of funnel/conversion content in your calendar, but the majority should feel native to the platforms and like it’s adding value to the social user’s feed. Day 2: The day I filmed this vlog !! It was a BIG content creation day. I filmed most of what we needed here. Day 3: A mix of exploring and creating! We spent the morning filming the content we didn’t get to on Day 2, then spent the afternoon exploring the area. Day 4: We checked out that day, so we just spent the morning working out, relaxing, and packing. Obviously, a hotel collab isn’t just a vacation, you do need to set aside time to create content for the hotel. But honestly, it’s always so worth it! I love hotel collabs because I get to create amazing content while still having time to relax and enjoy the hotel. 🥹🫶🏼
