THE METHODS:
1️⃣ Feynman Technique - learn the content, then teach it to someone who is unfamiliar with the topic (e.g. a child). Even better if you create a presentation & use analogies/diagrams/examples.This will highlight the areas you don’t fully understand, which you can go back to work on, and retry teaching until perfect 👩🏽🏫

2️⃣ SQ3R - to actively engage with anything you read use the following steps: Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review. Creating your own questions that you then answer when reading through the text makes it more engaging and memorable📕

3️⃣ Spaced Repetition - review content at regular, increasing intervals to help commit to long-term memory.
For example:
—> when you get home from school
—> again that weekend
—> the weekend after
—> in a fortnight
—> in a month
—> in 3 months 📅

4️⃣ Loci Method - envision a common route or room, and make a list of all the objects you pass. Try to relate each object to a piece of content you have to memorise (e.g. your door handle is circular, like the shape of a ribosome, which produces protein for the cell). During your exam, walk through the route/room in your mind to bring back the information 🧠

⭐️ Understanding the big picture before classes enhances your ability to deeply understand and remember new information by connecting it to existing knowledge. Do this by skimming your resources beforehand, creating a visual diagram, and taking a pretest.
Second brain 🧠
⭐️ Staying organized will exponentially increase your success as a student. Keep track of weaknesses, strengths, notes, assignments, and questions in one system for all of your classes using a second brain workspace! I’d recommend notion!
Active recall notes 💭
⭐️ One of my FAVORITE techniques ever. Instead of rewriting everything the teacher says, challenge yourself to think “how can this information be tested?”, “how is this information connected to prior concepts?”, “why is this process important?”, “etc. simple definition questions like “what is…?” is a great place to start!!
Spacing 📆
⭐️ Many times we come out of class with competent understanding of the material but we don’t revisit it until the exams. We as human beings rapidly forget information but the best way to combat this is to space out your revisions. Do a quick review after class of your active recall notes and then revise with each subsequent interval between sessions increasing. For example, day 2, 4, 10, 20

RUEvery student has that one thing they secretly hope is in class, and yes, it’s usually jumps.
Saut de chat, especially, always gets that extra bit of excitement.
But once the fun settles, the work begins. We focused on the details that actually define the step: how the legs pass, how the hips stay placed, and how the jump travels.
But after every fun drills, we make sure to break down the difference between a saut de chat and a grand jeté. They may look similar, but the coordination, intention, and timing are not.
We hope to see many of these returning students at DUCON Malaysia next year. 😊
