SIHPC (Holistic Progress Card) is a new type of report card introduced under the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2023. It is designed to assess the overall development of students instead of focusing only on marks or exam results. The Holistic Progress Card provides a 360-degree assessment, which includes evaluation by teachers, self-assessment by students, and sometimes feedback from peers. It focuses on competency-based learning, meaning it measures understanding, application of knowledge, creativity, problem-solving skills, behaviour, and values rather than rote memorization. HPC also includes areas such as academic learning, life skills, critical thinking, social and emotional development, physical fitness, arts, sports, and other co-curricular activities. Unlike the traditional report card that only shows marks in subjects, the Holistic Progress Card provides descriptive feedback and tracks a student’s progress over time, helping teachers, students, and parents understand the child’s strengths and areas that need improvement. Thus, HPC promotes holistic and continuous development of learners, which is a key goal of NEP and NCF.
