Existia um casal que brigava muito, principalmente pelo gênio difícil do marido. Muito nervoso com a esposa esse marido rogou uma praga à sua esposa, dizendo que ela teria um filho deficiente que lhe tomaria todo o tempo, não lhe sobrando nada a fazer, senão cuidar dessa criança.
Passado algum tempo, essa mulher engravidou de uma criança com uma grave deficiência na perna. Triste com a situação e envergonhada por conta do marido, esse mulher foi morar em um bosque, isolando-se de tudo e de todos, fazendo com que essa criança ficasse muito triste, pois não brincava e não participava do convívio em sociedade.
Quando essa criança já estava andando com bastante dificuldade em função da deficiência, Yemoja, a organizou um evento, ordenando que todos da cidade comparecessem para celebrar. Ao saber que havia uma mulher e uma criança que viviam no bosque, Yemoja mandou que a chamasse. A mulher chorando copiosamente, contou toda sua história, dizendo à Yemoja que não iria para não constranger seu filho. Yemoja lhe entregou certa quantia de búzios (o dinheiro da época), mandando que ela comprasse tecidos coloridos para vestir seu filho, para que ele também pudesse confraternizar na festa que aconteceria.
