BO🌲 International Day of Forests 🌲
On our Education Center property along the Rocky Mountain Front, we’re lucky to be surrounded by incredible forests—quaking aspen groves, towering Douglas-firs, and resilient limber pines. Each of these species plays an important role in Montana’s ecosystems, providing habitat for wildlife, stabilizing soil, and shaping the landscapes we love.
During our education programs, we make it a priority to get students out into these forests, not just talking about them in a classroom. Kids explore the differences between tree species, observe the plants and animals that depend on them, and learn how forests change over time.
We also dive into wildfire education—an essential topic in the West. Students learn how fire can shape forests, why it can be both destructive and beneficial, and how healthy forest management helps maintain resilient ecosystems.
There’s no better classroom than the forest itself. 🌿
