However, using Digital Motion X-ray (DMX), real-time imaging under motion revealed severe upper cervical instability at C1, where the head was no longer being properly supported by normal ligamentous structures. Instead, it showed extreme instability and loss of structural support, consistent with significant ligamentous laxity.
DMX made it possible to visualize what static imaging could not—the breakdown of ligament integrity and abnormal motion within the cervical spine. By capturing the body in motion, DMX exposes instability, laxity, and functional deficits that traditional imaging may miss.
