The outrage isn’t about religion. It’s about caste power. Why do Dalit, Bahujan, and Adivasi communities convert to Christianity? Because in a caste society that offers them no dignity, conversion becomes a form of resistance — a path to reclaim spiritual, social, and personal agency. When dominant caste folks cry about "ghar wapsi" and "Christian puppets," ask them — do you marry outside caste? Do you treat Dalits equally in your homes, temples, and families? You don’t want unity. You want control. This isn’t about saving anyone’s soul. This is about denying someone else's freedom. --- 🏷️ Hashtags: Dalit Christian, Adivasi Christian, Bahujan Christian, Shudra Christian, Christianity In India, Indian Christians, Dalit Conversion, Adivasi Conversion, ST Christians, SC Christians, Tribal Christians, Mizo Christian, Naga Christian, Khasi Christian, Garo Christian, Northeast Christians, South Indian Christians, Tamil Christians, Kerala Christians, Telugu Christians, Caste And Conversion, Caste Oppression, Brahmanical Patriarchy, Caste Power, Caste Privilege, Ambedkarite Thought, Caste Hegemony, Hindu Caste System, Dalit Liberation, Bahujan Voices, Adivasi Resistance, Spiritual Liberation, Religious Freedom India, Ambedkarite Christianity

1. Christianity has existed in India since the second century. 2. The history of colonization is violent and I do not deny this. Portuguese colonization, however, is not unique in this regard, but the treatment of Catholic/Christian Indians are. Myriad people converted to Catholicism and Christianity in the West, yet white Catholics/ Christians are not called "rice bags" or “colonized Christians." 3. The history of Christianity is no more violent than the history of any other religion. Violence is not the exception but the rule in the histories of ALL nations and communities (yes, even indigenous ones), and it doesn't delegitimize the beliefs and practices of peaceful communities in the present day. 4. “Missionaries target poor people by helping them!” Does the government “target” poor people when it hands out food stamps? Do charities “target” poor people when they set up soup kitchens? Do Doctors Without Borders and pro-bono lawyers “target” poor people by providing free medical and legal aid? If you only doubt the intentions of peaceful Christian missionaries, you’re just biased. 5. “Well, then why are most Indian Christians from lower socio-economic backgrounds?” Because correlation is not causation. Unless you have hard evidence that people are converting for monetary gain, it is no more than a hypothesis. Also: Christianity has historically been and currently is a poor-man’s religion. Jesus was the son of a poor carpenter and lived as a shepherd. If anything, there’s a reason that people from lower socio-economic backgrounds in both the East AND West turn to Christianity. (Read the stats on poverty and Christianity in the U.S.— no missionaries involved.) 6. The accusations of "rice bag Christianity" or “colonizer Christianity" is only wielded against brown and black people. No one looks at white Christians and suggests they converted for a bag of flour. You're telling on yourself if you think Indian Christians are in a unique position to lack the cognitive abilities to think for themselves and convert on the merits of a religion alone. #indian #catholic #indianchristian #religion #mangalorean

Not much but a lot for The Lord! Saint Monica, whom we honor today, was the mother of one of the greatest saints in the history of the Church: Saint Augustine. Monica was most likely born in Thagaste, present-day Souk Ahras, Algeria, North Africa, and was a member of the Berber tribe, a diverse group of peoples indigenous to North Africa prior to the arrival of the Arabs. Thagaste was then part of the Roman Empire, which had legalized Christianity just twenty years before Monica was born. Infant Jesus Shrine, Bhopal . “They think we worship cows.” “They say we have a thousand strange gods.” “They assume we’re basically Indian Christians.” We’ve all heard the stereotypes. But being Hindu in the West is not about dodging ignorance — it’s about answering it with knowledge. Hinduism is not just rituals and symbols. It is a living tradition that gave the world: Zero and mathematics as we know it Yoga and meditation Ahimsa, the principle of non-violence This is why we celebrate Diwali. This is why we wear a tilak. This is why we carry forward the stories and practices that have survived across oceans and generations. Do not hide. Do not shrink. Do not say “I don’t know.” Learn. Share. Educate. Storytell. The world will not stop stereotyping us until we start speaking up. Every time you explain your faith with pride, you strengthen Hinduism for the next generation. Christianity was introduced to Punjab in 1834 with the establishment of the Ludhiana Mission by John Lowrie of the American Presbyterian Mission Society. The American Presbyterian Mission established a printing press in Ludhiana in 1835, which was used to translate and print Christian texts in Punjabi. Initially, Christianity in Punjab gained followers from various social strata, including urban, literate individuals and later a significant influx of rural Dalits. Here’s a more detailed look: Establishment of the Ludhiana Mission: The American Presbyterian Mission’s Ludhiana Mission in 1834 marked the formal introduction of Christianity into Punjab. Printing Press and Translation: The establishment of a printing press in Ludhiana in 1835 facilitated the translation and dissemination of Christian texts in the Punjabi language. Initial Adherents: The initial Christian community in Punjab was diverse, including urban, literate individuals from various social backgrounds. Mass Conversion of Dalits: A significant wave of conversions from rural Dalit communities transformed the Christian community into a larger, more homogeneous group. Continued Evangelism: Continued missionary efforts by Christian denominations, particularly the Church of Scotland and Church Missionary Society, led to a substantial growth in the Christian population in Punjab during the British Raj. All India Conference of Indian Christians: The All India Conference of Indian Christians, which was active in the Indian independence movement, demonstrated the growing influence of Christians in the region. #christian #jesus #worship #jesuschrist #yeshu #ankurnarulaministries #worshiperthomasgill #bible #jesuscristo #God
