Yes, it is unfortunately true!
Nigerians are not eligible to apply for the normal standard visa due to reasons mentioned in this video. To visit Indonesia, Nigerians will have to apply for a “Calling Visa” which is a special type of visa.
This particular visa requires getting an Indonesia sponsor to stand as a guarantor for the traveler. It is not just about getting a guarantor but the process is very cumbersome. If you decide to do this yourself, the shege you and your sponsor will experience ehn! Except if your Indonesia sponsor is really very close to you, I doubt if anyone would want to go through such hassle.
Hence, people use third party companies in Indonesia or companies that have direct contact at the immigration to process this calling visa.
All these put together has made the total cost of this visa very expensive and there seems to be no fixed visa cost out there especially because third parties are now involved.
Some travel companies process same visa for $1200 while some process same for less than $1000. Contact, connection and influence varies.
I remember how difficult it was for me to pay for this visa last year. I almost skipped Indonesia but it wouldn’t have made sense because I was already in Southeast Asia and very close to Bali.

So here’s a clear breakdown of the main options, whether you’re coming for a quick trip or planning to stay long-term 👇🏽
🧳 Short-term stays (tourists & remote workers)
1. Visa on Arrival, 30 days:You can apply online and costs are around 30 euro. Can be extended up to 60 days total.
2. Tourist / Business Visa, 60 days: You can apply online and it’s usually extendable up to 180 days. Costs are around 90 euro.
💼 Long-term stays (if you’re settling down or working). Price is around 500-800 euro per year.
1. KITAS, Temporary Stay Permit: for investors if you have an Indonesian company (PT PMA) or if you’re joining an Indonesian spouse or family. It’s valid for 1 or 2 years and renewable.
2. Digital Nomad Visa: still evolving, but some agencies already help set up legal long-term remote work visas 💻.
3. Retirement Visa: for anyone 55+ who wants to enjoy island life 🌴 You need to have a monthly income or pension fund of 1.500 euro.
🌍 Frequent traveler?
There’s a Multiple-Entry Visa that’s valid for 1 or 2 years and allows several 60-day visits. Perfect if you come and go often. Price is around 300 euro for 1 year.
