It’s easily reached from Skardu, but feels far more open and less visited, making it a quieter stop when exploring the region and nearby routes towards Hunza.

CHNeither of us has Sindhi heritage, except that both our fathers grew up in Hyderabad. On a recent trip to Karachi, we set out on a nine-city road trip through Sindh - a province where ancient history blends seamlessly with vibrant culture, yet one that everyone told us to avoid. The journey began deeply personally: I visited my Dada’s grave, while Neha revisited memories of her spending the summers at her Dadi’s home in Hyderabad. From there, the sheer beauty of the province took us by surprise.
Whether it was spotting Indus River dolphins, taking a boat to a remote Hindu temple, or witnessing the rhythmic dhamaals at Sufi shrines, every moment was a revelation. We were guided through museums and the ruins of Mohenjo-Daro by experts who brought the stones to life. Despite being our hardest trip to research, it is the one we cherish most. To every Pakistani looking to plan their next getaway abroad: look inward first. There are craftsmen and communities doing incredible work who need our support. We should take pride in our heritage before waiting for the world to validate it.
