During their journey, they befriended a baby whale named Laboon. When they had to enter the dangerous Grand Line, they left Laboon behind at Reverse Mountain, promising they would return someday. Later, tragedy struck. The crew was attacked and poisoned, knowing they would all die. Instead of giving in to despair, they chose to spend their final moments playing one last song together. They recorded it as a Tone Dial so Laboon could hear their voices again one day. One by one, they died while continuing to play, leaving Brook as the last survivor.
Brook had eaten the Revive-Revive Fruit, allowing his soul to return after death. But because of the thick fog in the Florian Triangle, his soul couldn’t find his body for a long time. By the time he did, his body had decayed into bones—leaving him a living skeleton.
Even worse, Brook spent decades alone on a ghost ship, surrounded by silence and memories of his fallen crew. The only thing that kept him going was his promise to Laboon. He lived on, carrying their final song and the hope of one day returning to fulfill that promise.
Brook’s story is about loneliness, loss, and the power of a promise. Even after losing everything, he keeps smiling—because he refuses to let his crew be forgotten.
