SIInstalling Knauf earthwool insulation from @pricewiseinsulation. We used R.4 for the ceiling and R2.7 sound shield for the walls.
The r value basically tells you how much the insulation will resist heat transfer. Higher the r value, the better the product is at insulating your home ~ less temperature fluctuations, less energy spent 🌱
We’d love to have thicker ceiling and walls so we can install a higher r value, as well as an internal service cavity.
But building small has meant finding the balance between maximising internal living space within the moveable size limitations, and building as high performing as possible.
One thing we haven’t comprised on is installing a centralised heat recovery unit. This will recycle up to 90% of our heat, filter and supply fresh air. It’s been a squeeze but can’t wait to see how much it reduces that classic tiny house condensation build up and how good the air feels inside.
