Interfere VS Intervene - what’s the difference?? They both mean to get involved in a situation that you (or someone) wasn’t previously part of. The big difference is that Interfere is considered negative or annoying. Imagine someone trying to jump into an argument they aren’t a part of because they want to be in the drama, annoying right? That’s interfering. To intervene is normally neutral or positive. Imagine the government getting involved to stop a famous old building being sold and demolished. Intervene also has a second meaning, “to come between”. It’s normally used to talk about the time between two events, it’s not that common is everyday English though… for example ✨“Two decades intervened between the completion of the design and the opening of the theatre.“ #english #learnenglish. #studyenglish #englishlanguage #englishvocabulary

Ever found yourself wanting to contribute to a lively work meeting but unsure of how to interject without stepping on anyone’s toes? 😬 In today’s reel, I talk about the art of interjecting — that is, how you can confidently share your thoughts while maintaining a respectful and collaborative atmosphere. ✨ Here are five powerful phrases to help you navigate interjections: 1️⃣ “Building on what _____ just said, I believe...” 2️⃣ “May I jump in for a moment? I have a valuable perspective to add...” 3️⃣ “If I may, I’d like to offer a different angle on this...” 4️⃣ “Can I interject briefly? I think it’s important to consider...” 5️⃣ “Apologies for interrupting, but I have an idea that could benefit the discussion...” Remember, interjecting is not about overpowering others or stealing the spotlight—it’s about contributing meaningfully and adding value to the conversation. 💡 By using these phrases, you can assert yourself professionally and make your voice heard while still respecting your colleagues’ opinions. 👍 Feeling empowered? 🦸‍♀️ Go test them out and let me know how it goes! Ever need to redirect someone who’s talking too long without making it awkward? Most people who ramble aren’t trying to dominate - they’re nervous or unaware. If you handle it poorly, the whole room feels uncomfortable. From my experience moderating panels, here’s what works: Name, Frame, Aim. ✨ Use their name (shows respect) ✨ Frame something valuable they said (proves you’re listening) ✨ Aim the conversation at something or someone else (because that’s generous; try not to take over yourself) This keeps everyone comfortable while you guide the flow. The best interruptions don’t stop conversations - they redirect them with grace! Do you find it difficult to interrupt people? #CommunicationSkills #ProfessionalDevelopment #MeetingSkills #Leadership #WorkplaceCommunication
