We’ve all heard this at the end of an interview: “Thanks for your time, we’ll be in touch soon.” Sounds positive. But “soon” can mean tomorrow… or never. If you don’t clarify the timeline, you lose momentum. Here’s how to handle it properly: Say this at the end of the interview: “Thank you. Just to confirm, when would be a good time for me to follow up if I don’t hear back?” This shows: • confidence • clarity • ownership of the process If they stay vague, follow up with: “I’m currently in conversations with a few companies. Is it okay if I check back in by a specific date?” Now you’re not waiting and overthinking. You’re setting expectations and staying visible. Comment “FOLLOW UP” if you want more scripts 🥰✨ #interviews #interviewprep #interviewtips #interviewquestions #jobsearch

“Tell me about yourself.” Is the hardest interview question because it’s vague, open ended and the most common. One of the reasons why you hate this interview question is because you’re not sure what you’re supposed to say, and you don’t know yourself. Self-awareness is a critical skill that you need to interview well because a job interview in the most basic sense is a set of questions about you. The more you know yourself, the better you’ll do. 🫣Ahead of your next job interview don’t ask chat gpt how to answer this question because chat gpt doesn’t know YOU. YOU are the only person that knows you. So take some time to think about who you are, what you want and what you offer a company. 🧑🏽‍💻While there is no perfect answer to this interview question, there is a framework you should follow. Answer this question in chronological story form by starting at the beginning leading up to present day. Past, present and future. ▪️PAST Tell them what you went to college for and why you majored in marketing Tell them a bit about your first few jobs ▪️PRESENT Talk to them about your current job and what qualifies you for the position you’re applying to. ▪️FUTURE Tell them you see yourself at this company, what you can do to improve their department and that you’re excited for today’s conversation 🧑🏽‍💻When you know how to talk about yourself, and your work experience you will not only be seen as confident but capable as well. 📘For a customized interview prep workbook that outlines your interview style and all the interview questions you should be prepared for, get an Interviewology Profile and get my book Interviewology: The New Science of Interviewing #jobinterview #interviewquestions #interviewprep #corporate

When an interviewer asks… “Tell me something that’s not on your resume,” most people panic and start listing traits or hobby’s to build rapport. “I love to travel.” “I’m adaptable.” “I’m a hard worker.” 🙅🏼‍♀️ None of those answers tell them what they actually want to know. What they’re listening for is this: ➡️ How do you think when things aren’t clear? A stronger answer sounds like: ✅ “What’s not on my resume is how I think under pressure. When priorities shift or information is incomplete, I simplify the problem by gaining clarity over then issue then decide what matters most to help things move forward.” * Remember... once you get the job this question doesn’t go away! It becomes a question you will hear in your 1:1’s. It just shows up differently. Comment: PREP for my interview guide! Cheering you on! Interviewer: “Tell me something that’s NOT on your résumé.” Most people panic and say something generic that recruiters hear all day. What they actually want is a memorable story that shows how you work. Use one of these angles 👇 1️⃣ Volunteering “On weekends I volunteer at ___. It taught me ___, which I apply at work by ___.” 2️⃣ Passion project “I built ___ in my spare time. It reached ___ and helped me develop ___ that I now use to ___.” 3️⃣ Overcoming a challenge “I used to struggle with ___. I did ___ to fix it. Now I’m able to ___ confidently.” 4️⃣ Self-taught skill “I taught myself ___ and used it to ___, which saved ___.” 5️⃣ Unique life experience “I once ___. It taught me ___, and I use that in ___ at work.” 6️⃣ Your working style in real life “My team calls me ‘___’ because I’m always the one who ___.” 7️⃣ Unexpected strength “I’m surprisingly good at ___, and I use it at work to ___.” 8️⃣ A moment that shaped your work ethic “Growing up ___ taught me ___, which drives how I approach ___.” 9️⃣ A micro-achievement you never put on your résumé “I once improved ___ just by ___. It wasn’t résumé-worthy, but it saved us ___.” Specific. Memorable. Strategic. Applicable. 💾 SAVE for your next interview 👥 SHARE with someone job hunting 🚀 FOLLOW for practical finance, career, and life tips #interviewtips #jobsearch #careergrowth #interviewprep #jobinterview #careerdevelopment

Here’s how ⬇️ ✅ Send yourself this post so you don’t lose it. If you want to get a job offer in this market you need to be prepared to nail every interview stage. Here’s how you can prepare for the recruiter interview: 1️⃣ Prepare for common interview questions Make sure to go prepared with answers to the most likely questions to be asked like: “tell me about yourself” and “why do you want to work here. If you want a checklist with how to answer those, just comment CHECKLIST below and l’ll send it over. 2️⃣ Do a gap analysis: Copy the job description from the advert and paste into a google doc. Form there highlights the bullet points you have (blue) vs don’t have (red) from the job description. Under each one of the ones you have, add examples when you showed those skills (ex: managed an event). For the ones you don’t have, add anything that could complement that skill. 3️⃣ Prepare good questions to ask Never leave an interview without asking questions - and for the recruiter focus on questions about the process and next steps. Ask things like: “what do the next steps look like?”, “based on my CV and our conversation, are there any reservations on moving me to the next stage?” Follow @techtalkuk for part 2 where I’ll break down how to nail the hiring manager interview. 🔥 PS: If you want the interview checklist, just comment CHECKLIST below and l’ll send it over. #jobapplication #jobsearch #jobhunt #interviewprep #interviewtips interviewquestions interview bigtech jobseeker

Job interviews aren’t confessionals… they’re marketing. Framing your experience in the strongest, most confident way isn’t being dishonest — it’s understanding how to position your skills, transferable experience, and career value. Employers are evaluating potential, impact, and fit… not asking for your life story. Learn how to confidently present your experience, highlight strengths, and stand out in the hiring process. #JobInterviewTips #CareerAdvice #InterviewPrep #CareerGrowth #JobSearchTips
