EZ everyone, today’s #SundayChune is a bit of an oddball. It’s a really simple one, honestly, but it has its intricacies—making it unique and special. The tune mainly consists of a simple bassline, there isn’t much going on melodically besides that and a little bit of pads and fxs bleeding in here and there. What does the heavy lifting in this tune are the breaks. The breaks! They’re absolutely insane… especially that overly processed Plastic Jam break. I seriously wonder how they got it to sound like that. It has this ping-y sound to it that just cuts right through. It’s super heavy. I have mostly posted 93-95 tunes, I mean, I adore that style and sound, but I’m equally fascinated with the era that came after it. Especially with tunes like this where jungle starts to become really experimental and basically turn into what would be known as “drum and bass.” I sometimes don’t care for that label, but it does make sense at times, I think here it does make sense. But anyway, this one is a freaking weapon, man. If you layer it with another tune, nicely, you are in for a total ride.
