CSRep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) prodded House Republicans on Wednesday to simply call a vote to impeach President Biden if they believe they have proven he committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
“When is it going to happen? When can we tell the American people you’ll stop wasting their money and just call for the vote on impeachment?” he asked Reps. James Comer (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), the committee chairs leading the inquiry.
“We don’t do snap impeachments like you guys,” Rep. Jordan replied.
House Republicans have been investigating the president for more than a year but have failed to produce compelling evidence to back up their claims that he corruptly benefited from his family’s business dealings.
“They’re never going to impeach Joe Biden. It’s never going to happen because they don’t have the evidence,” Rep. Moskowitz said. “This is a show. It’s all fake. They just want to do these hearings. It’s not leading to impeachment. They’re lying to their base, on Newsmax and Fox, leading these people to believe that they’re going to eventually impeach the president. It’s not going to happen.”

CSRep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) criticized Republicans on the Oversight Committee for moving to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena, arguing that the president’s son has offered to testify publicly, just not behind closed doors.
“He’s here. He doesn’t seem to be too afraid,” the Florida Democrat said. “The chairman said the witness can choose whether to come to a deposition or to a public hearing in front of the committee. The witness accepted the chairman’s invitation. It just so happens the witness is here. If the committee wants to hear from the witness and the chairman gave the witness that option, then the only folks that are afraid to hear from the witness, with the American people watching, are my friends on the other side of the aisle.”
Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) responded by saying the subpoena was to testify behind closed doors, which Mr. Biden refused to comply with. “Listen Mr. Moskowitz, Mr. Biden doesn’t make the rules. We make the rules,” he shot back. “He was issued two lawful subpoenas.”
Rep. Moskowitz also pointed out that Republicans were okay with fellow Republicans defying subpoenas from the Jan. 6 committee, including Reps. Scott Perry (R-PA), Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Andy Biggs (R-AZ) as well as former Reps. Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
“There’s an amendment coming to add some of those names into the contempt order,” he said. “Show that you’re serious and that everyone is not above the law. Vote for that amendment and I’ll vote for the Hunter Biden contempt.”
