Sunnah Muβakkadah (Emphasized Sunnah)*
These were regularly practiced by the Prophet ο·Ί and are strongly recommended. Skipping them without valid reason is discouraged.
*Sunnah Muβakkadah Rakβahs* :
- 2 Rakβah before Fajr
- 4 Rakβah before Dhuhr (offered as 2+2)
- 2 Rakβah after Dhuhr
- 2 Rakβah after Maghrib
- 2 Rakβah after Isha
*There are several authentic ahadith highlighting their virtue, such as* :
β _Whoever prays twelve Rakβahs in a day and night, a house will be built for him in Paradise_ .β
β _These Sunnah prayers act as a shield and completion for the Fard prayers_ .β
β _Whoever prays twelve Rakβahs in a day and night, will enter paradise_ .β
*b. Ghair Muβakkadah (Non-emphasized Sunnah)*
These were occasionally practiced by the Prophet ο·Ί and are not obligatory, but praying them brings reward and is encouraged.
- 4 Rakβah before Asr (offered as 2+2)
Some scholars recommend offering these occasionally, to stay in line with the Prophet ο·Ίβs practice. However, others permit offering them regularly, based on the hadith:
β _May Allah have mercy on the one who prays four Rakβahs before Asr_ .β
