The main reason I decided to take that drive down to Rhode Island was so I can try @jaydbun. An authentic, Chinese (Tianjin) restaurant with a boatload of awards including being ranked #2 in the country on Yelp. I’ve mentioned plenty of times that those awards from yelp, Michelin, zagats, James beard, etc don’t mean anything to me. Sometimes they get them right, some of them I feel are mentioned through politics. I listen to my followers more than awards. But when I came across Jayd Buns Instagram page and saw how great their food look, I knew I wanted to try them. They’re known more for their buns (clearly, it’s the name of the joint). But their noodles also really stood out to me. I called Joe, one of the owners, and he told me what to get and told me to let him know when I’m on the way. They need time to prepare. They’re so busy that if you just show up, you might end up waiting up to 3 hours. They make everything by hand & to order and they constantly have orders coming in. Do yourself the favor and call ahead. I loved this place! Everything about it. The shop itself, the decor, the swag, the food and I definitely loved Joe! He was the man. So friendly & enthusiastic. Jayd Bun is a spot you’re definitely going to want to try out for yourself. Be sure to let him know who sent you, maybe he’ll throw you a Jin-Jin 😁 Thank you Joe! Bring the family up to Boston. We tried many dishes, but my favorites were the Jayd Fusion, spicy Yo Po noodle, and the bao. We took it over to Whalers Brewing Company to enjoy, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth the hype. If you’re in Rhode Island, this spot is a must-try!

I can’t say enough good things about Jayd Bun — this place is so good. Like genuinely one of those meals where you keep talking about it after. From the moment you finally get your hands on an order (which… takes a little planning, not gonna lie), you can tell it’s not your typical takeout. Everything tastes super fresh, handmade, and just… different in the best way. If you’re trying to figure out what to order, here’s my very real ranking after trying a lot of it: #1 Yo Po Noodles — this is the one. So flavorful, a little spicy, perfectly balanced, and somehow you just keep going back for another bite without thinking. #2 Wonton Soup — honestly surprised me. It’s light but still packed with flavor, super comforting. #3 Bao Buns — didn’t even order these lol. They just gave them to us (along with a free soup and noodles??), and they ended up being amazing. Then the Jin Jin (spicy pork), peanut butter noodles, and the congee — all were amazing too, but you can’t have everything be number one… or maybe you can, I don’t know. Also just have to say — the fact that they threw in extra food so we could try more of the menu was such a nice touch. You can tell they actually care about what they’re doing, not just cranking out orders. And the recognition is real. They were ranked #2 Chinese restaurant in the U.S. in 2025 and #61 overall in the U.S. in 2026, plus James Beard Award recognition… which makes total sense after eating it. They’ve also been named Rhode Island Restaurant of the Year. It just feels like one of those hidden gems that you want to gatekeep a little… but also everyone should try it. Just plan ahead and pre-order. They sell out for a reason. #rifood #chinesefood #jaydbun
