If you haven’t heard yet, I’ve partnered with my friends at @Allstora to launch a monthly book club subscription box. Each month, Allstora will automatically send you my monthly book club pick in the mail. These will continue to be some of my most-anticipated books of the year, from edge-of-your-seat thrillers to puzzle box mysteries to epic character dramas. Not excited about that month’s pick? If you’re just joining us, we’re on month three of Jordy’s book club. In January we read horror, February a locked room mystery, and this month, we’ve got a relationship drama perfect for fans of DAISY JONES, HIGH FIDELITY, and TOMORROW AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW.
The book is DEEP CUTS by Holly Brickley, the first book I’ve read that comes with its own Spotify playlist!! Set against the early aughts indie music scene, the book is centered around Percy and Joe, an aspiring writer and a musician who bond over their shared love of music, write a couple life-changing songs together, and then spend the next several decades playing a game of “will they/won’t they” as they climb the music industry ladder together. The book is a music lover’s dream, but besides that, it is also romantic, and funny and thought-provoking, and may feature my favorite break-up scene I’ve read in years. It’s the perfect book to fully immerse yourself in, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of DEEP CUTS.
