I had an awesome time connecting with Jane from Bienestar at the Racial Justice Learning Exchange: LA in Color event held at the Historic Catch One! 🎉 Bienestar is a powerhouse community organization dedicated to supporting Latine/x, LGBTQ+, and Transgender, Gender-Expansive, and Intersex (TGI) folks across Greater LA 🏳️‍⚧️. They offer incredible services like HIV/AIDS prevention, mental health support, substance use counseling, peer groups, and specialized programs for TGI communities—all free and delivered with heart 💪✨. Bienestar is hosting a group 🤝 session this Monday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at their Manchester location (130 W Manchester Ave, Los Angeles), providing another vital space for connection and support. It was inspiring to see Bienestar’s passion for health equity and social justice in action as they shared resources and support as a vendor at this important gathering. ✨ Recap | LACAAEA 2025 Annual Conference ✨ This past Saturday, October 25th, I had the honor of representing the Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD) as the Justice Programs Director at the Los Angeles County African American Employees Association (LACAAEA) 2025 Annual Conference. I had the privilege of sharing the stage with incredible leaders from across the County — including Department Heads from the Department of Youth Development and several other newly established departments — during the panel discussion, “New Departments, New Opportunities to Serve.” During the discussion, I was able to share the background and evolution of JCOD, and highlight the transformative initiatives and programs we’ve developed to serve, heal, and empower justice-impacted individuals throughout Los Angeles County. A special thank you to our JCOD Executive Leadership Team for entrusting me to represent our department and contribute to this meaningful conversation.
