How many days: 2-4 days
Do you need a visa? No, most countries don’t require a visa for stays of less than 30 days
How to get there: I went straight from Johannesburg airport and took the Transmagnific shuttle across the border to Eswatini. One of the easiest border crossings I’ve done. 🚌
Is it safe: I felt safe, although I didn’t spend any time in cities. The locals I did meet were incredibly kind. 🥹
Where to stay: Sondzela Backpackers in Milwane National Reserve
What to do:
- Relax and enjoy the nature
- Walk, cycle or drive around Milwane National Reserve. There are no predators, so it’s safe to walk 🦓
- Summit execution rock. It’s a 4-5 hour hike from Sondzela 🥾
- Visit Mantenga Cultural Village
- Do a game drive at Hlane Royal National Park to see the Big Five 🦁
- Visit Ezulwini Handcraft Market
These recommendations are tailored more towards backpackers, solo travellers and those without a car, as most of these things to do are in the same area. 🎒
