"Itโ€™s easy to bluster, but itโ€™s another thing to go toe-to-toe and into harmโ€™s way," Smith said, referencing the U.S. military's recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. "Weโ€™ve built a culture of warrior excellence, warfighting, and interoperability in the joint force. The PRC has not had to deal with that in decades." Highlighting the gap, Smith added, "Our last combat was captured on somebodyโ€™s iPhone 14. The Chineseโ€™ last combat was captured on oil and canvas. They should not forget that."
