Jupiter's Rotation and Io Transit This is my first time-lapse of Jupiter, capturing 1hours and 30minutes of Jupiter Rotation and Io's transit! 🌑 Although the seeing conditions weren’t the best, I’m happy with the result, even if the shadow of Io didn’t appear as clearly as I’d hoped. You can also see the Great Red Spot beginning to rise during the sequence, an amazing sight!😃 This is the first of many time-lapses to come 🎥, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. This project consisted of 9 videos, each 3 minutes long, stacked and processed to highlight the details of Jupiter’s surface.✨ Equipment I used: Celestron NexStar 6SE ZWO ASI 662MC ZWO IR-Cut Filter Barlow 2x Processing Software I used: PiPP, RegiStax 6, OpenShot and Photoshop Date: 18/01/2025 #pipp #registax6 #photoshop #openshot #jupiter #celestron #zwo #celestronnexstar6se #celestronnextar #zwoasi662mc #iotransit #transit #jupiterrotation #astrophotographyportugal #astrofotografiaportugal #planetrotation

🗿Jupiter’s immense gravity—over 300 times more powerful than Earth’s—acts as a cosmic gatekeeper, deflecting or capturing many comets and asteroids before they reach the inner Solar System. Positioned just beyond the asteroid belt, it shapes orbital paths via gravitational resonances (like the Kirkwood gaps), steering dangerous objects away from Earth. The 1994 Shoemaker–Levy 9 impact dramatically showcased this effect, as Jupiter absorbed fragments that might otherwise have threatened us . At a rate possibly thousands of times higher than Earth’s impact rate, Jupiter regularly intercepts cosmic debris . However, its influence is nuanced—some gravitational interactions can redirect objects inward, creating a complex interplay of protection and risk . Overall, Jupiter’s presence has significantly reduced the frequency of catastrophic impacts, helping create the stable environment needed for life to flourish on Earth. #cosmicguardian #jupiter #CosmicGuardian #JupiterShield #KeplerDefense #AsteroidProtection #SolarSystemSafety #SpaceScience #PlanetaryShielding #ɪɴsᴛᴀɢᴏᴏᴅ #ɪɴsᴛᴀʀᴇᴇʟs

In July 1994, a comet slammed into Jupiter — and we watched it happen ☄️🪐 Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9 had already been torn into 21 fragments by Jupiter’s gravity, and between July 16–22, 1994, those pieces slammed into the planet one by one. The impacts left dark “bruise” scars in Jupiter’s atmosphere that stayed visible for months. Would you want to see an event like this through a telescope (from a safe distance)? 👀✨ #Jupiter #Comet #NASA #Astronomy #StarWalk

Jupiter X Earth.🗿 Jupiter, the giant among planets, was born 4.6 billion years ago from the same swirling dust that birthed the Sun. With a mass greater than all other planets combined, it is a true titan—its atmosphere painted in bands of browns, whites, and fiery oranges. The Great Red Spot, a storm larger than Earth itself, has raged for centuries, a living scar of cosmic endurance. Named after the Roman king of gods, Jupiter’s myth reflects its role in reality: unmatched power, unmatched grandeur. Yet beyond beauty, Jupiter is Earth’s shield. Its immense gravity captures or flings away asteroids and comets, sparing our planet from countless catastrophes and allowing life to thrive. From swallowing comets like Shoemaker–Levy 9 to shaping the orbits of moons and planets, Jupiter is both a destroyer and a savior—a celestial protector whose silent watch has defined Earth’s destiny. The very first photo of Jupiter, located 700 million km (434 million miles) away, was taken in 1879 by the Irish astronomer Agnes Mary Clerk. Jupiter observations improved massively when the Juno space probe arrived in the planet's orbit in 2016 (after a 5 year journey). Since then, Juno gathered a plethora of data about the magnetosphere, atmosphere, gravitational fields and Jupiter's moons. Currently, Juno is still orbiting Jupiter and will continue to do so until 2025 when the spacecraft will be deliberately burned up in Jupiter's atmosphere  ImagesCredit: NASA/ESA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI/MSSS #juno #júpiter #jupiter #planets #planet #storm #moon #ganymede #space #nasa #astronomer #linkstars #universe #cosmos #solarsystem #astronomy #astronomyfacts #astro #deepspace #spaceexploration #spacecraft #clouds #reelvideo

You don’t land on Jupiter. You fall. And you keep falling. First, winds hit you at 600 km/h — faster than any hurricane Earth has ever seen. The clouds around you aren’t white and peaceful, they’re ammonia and sulfur, burning and toxic. As you drop deeper, pressure crushes you from every direction — your body compresses like a tin can in a hydraulic press. There’s no surface waiting for you. Just layers getting hotter, denser, darker. Somewhere deep enough, the gas becomes liquid, then metallic hydrogen — a state of matter that doesn’t even exist on Earth. You don’t crash. You dissolve. Jupiter doesn’t kill you once. It kills you in stages. . . #Jupiter #FallingIntoJupiter #WhatIf #SpaceFacts #UniverseGoneWrong CosmicHorror DeepSpace PlanetJupiter SpaceExploration DarkUniverse CosmicFacts

Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, plays a crucial role in planetary defense. 🪐 Its immense gravitational field—over twice the mass of all other planets combined—acts as a cosmic filter. It captures, deflects, or alters the trajectories of comets and asteroids, reducing the number of objects that reach the inner solar system and potentially collide with Earth. #space #astronomy #jupiter #earth #solarsystem #cosmos #science #spacelovers #astrophysics #universe #spacefacts #didyouknow #sciencefacts #nasa #spaceexploration #cosmic #astroscience #reelsindia #explorepage #viralreels

Jupiter: The protector🗿 Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, serves a significant role in shielding Earth from potential asteroid and comet impacts. Its substantial mass, over 300 times that of Earth, generates a strong gravitational field. This gravitational field is powerful enough to either attract objects, causing them to collide with Jupiter instead of continuing on a potentially Earth-bound trajectory, or to alter their paths significantly, flinging them out of the solar system. Historically, Jupiter’s gravitational pull has indeed protected Earth from numerous potential impacts. A prime example of this occurred in 1994 when Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 was torn apart by Jupiter’s gravity and subsequently collided with the planet. Had Jupiter not intercepted the comet, it could have continued on a path toward the inner solar system, potentially threatening Earth. 🌎 . Video idea: @abdelkahar_benaicha .
