✨ A wonderful evening with our 2026 Kindy families ✨ We loved welcoming our new Kindy cohort and their families to our recent information session. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, ask questions and get excited about the year ahead. Our Kindy Teacher Megan shared valuable insights into our curriculum, the importance of play-based learning, and what families and children can expect as they begin their Kindy journey. We’re looking forward to an amazing year of growth, discovery and fun 🌱 Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more special moments and clips from the night very soon 💛 #Kindy2026 #EarlyLearning #PlayBasedLearning #KindergartenReady #LearningThroughPlay KindyLife

Peep fun at Kelloholm & Sanquhar Nurseries! 🌟 At Kelloholm, the children loved spotting and ‘reading’ Environmental Print and enjoyed mark making with lots of different resources. At Sanquhar, we focused on fine motor skills like drawing and cutting, and had great fun balancing, hopping and running to build our gross motor skills. Learning through play every day. 📚 #EarlyLearning #PhysicalDevelopment #Peep #LifelongLearning

My heart is full- two schools and two exhibitions in two nights- it was so magical to see the joy, love, and community at each school. At these gatherings, there is nothing I love better than to sit back and watchi the connections our families have made at preschool. That is the heart of KBTS. And, of course, we are there to celebrate the children’s learning. As one of my teachers so eloquently said, “The building project is honestly one of my favorite projects (even if i do find it the hardest) because each year your class gets to add something new to the school. In such a real way, they are helping build the place we all share and love. They are leaving behind a small piece of their time here, a legacy that future classes will explore, play with, and learn from, even if they never know the names of the children who first imagined and created it.“ And that too, of course, is the heart of KBTS 🤍 #playbasedlearning #projectbasedlearning g

The belonging tree on our wall brought our families and friends together in a beautiful way. Miss Miranda spoke with us about connection and belonging, helping us understand how each of us is part of our First Years community. We placed family portraits on the tree and created our own drawings to sit alongside them, building a visual story of who we are. This experience supports our sense of identity while strengthening the relationships that make First Years Early Learning feel like home. #SenseOfBelonging #FamilyConnections #earlylearningdevelopment #QA1FYEL #QA5FYEL #QA6FYEL

A set-up is never accidental. The space itself becomes the “third teacher” - intentionally designed to provoke curiosity, collaboration and deep thinking. One of the most powerful resources in this kind of environment? Simple wooden building blocks. Open-ended and rich in possibility, wooden blocks invite children to explore balance, symmetry, pattern and structure. They encourage collaboration, negotiation and shared problem-solving. They demand patience, resilience and sustained concentration. There is no single outcome - only possibilities. During considered play, blocks become a language. Through them, children express theories: How high can it go? What makes it stable? What happens if…? For leaders reflecting on their provision, consider: • Are your block areas spacious and uncluttered, allowing for long-term projects? • Are materials beautiful, natural and thoughtfully presented? • Do practitioners observe, document and extend children’s thinking rather than direct it? When we elevate simple resources and design environments with intention, we create spaces where thinking becomes visible. Atelier Consultancy supports leaders in developing environments that truly inspire learning. 📷 @venetianorringtonbranding #EarlyYearsLeadership #ReggioInspired #EarlyYearsPractice #ChildLedLearning #PedagogyInPractice #AtelierConsultancy

Another day of staying with the work integrating, returning, and holding threads together, as we continue to encounter what pedagogical documentation can mean within our work in early childhood education. As Carla Rinaldi reminds us, ‘documentation is not about what we do, but what we think about what we do.’This invites us to move beyond recording and toward interpretation—toward listening with intention. Through documentation, we begin to understand more deeply what it means to live together in learning spaces. We come closer to recognizing the significance of children’s thinking, their questions, theories, gestures, and relationships as central to the life of the classroom. Their thinking is not something to shape toward predetermined outcomes, but something to encounter with respect and curiosity. Rather than prescribing what we believe children should know, documentation asks us to situate ourselves within the present—within the realities, complexities, and possibilities of living and learning in today’s world. It calls us to be responsive, to notice what is unfolding, and to remain open to where children’s ideas may lead. In this way, documentation becomes a process that transforms us as educators. It is not only about making learning visible, but about seeing beyond visibility—toward reflection, research, and ethical engagement. Our work becomes one of studying what is in front of us, allowing it to inform our thinking, and shaping our practice in relation to children, rather than in advance of them. This is the ongoing work: to document, to reflect, to return—and to listen more deeply each time. #education #documentation

What guides our decisions about what to document and what to let pass? This excerpt reminds us that documentation is not about capturing everything, but about paying attention with intention. It asks educators to consider why certain moments call for our attention, and to develop a sensitivity to when something invites us to slow down, linger, and stay with what is unfolding. In these moments, documentation becomes less about recording and more about responding—listening closely, noticing carefully, and allowing possibilities to emerge rather than rushing forward. This reflection comes from Conversation XI: Attending to Children’s Lifeworlds. We will continue thinking with these ideas in Conversation XII on April 16. With World Random Acts of Kindness Day last week, we’re reflecting on what kindness looks like in early learning 💚 At Learn Play Grow, kindness looks like 🔅Children helping push a friend so everyone gets a turn. 🔅Helping with a hat. 🔅Passing over a water bottle. 🔅Choosing to give a flower Through everyday play and shared experiences, empathy and social awareness grow naturally, building a strong sense of belonging from the very beginning. If you’re looking for an early learning centre in Kardinya, WA where connection is part of the culture, book a tour and experience LPG for yourself. What’s happening in our 4 year old Kinder room? Below is an example of the updates our families receive via our app Storypark about what their children learn on a daily basis. Dear families, today we had a busy day as children engaged in a variety of experiences that supported their language development, creativity, and sense of identity. Experience: Letter of the Week – W Children explored words that begin with the letter W and practised recognising the sound in different contexts. They enjoyed sharing their own ideas and identifying familiar words, building early literacy skills through discussion and play. Experience: My Right My Choice During our “My Right, My Choice” discussion, children talked about what they might like to be when they grow up. They shared thoughtful and imaginative ideas such as different jobs and roles they find interesting. By recorded their ideas in the floor plan book, children were given an opportunity to see that their voices and choices are valued. Experience: Sequencing and Retell After having read the book, “Wombat Stew,” children were encouraged to revisit the story Wombat Stew. Through sequencing and retelling the story, children were also encouraged to think about the question, “Is there a problem in the story?” Children also discussed the characters and events, demonstrating their growing comprehension skills and ability to recall and organise story elements. Send us a DM or comment Kinder below if you would like to book a tour of our Kinder rooms, places are filling fast!
