EASY NON-ROLL EDGING Do you want to prevent the hem of your stockinette knitting from curling? This is an easy way I used in my fleur_top pattern and I thought I’ll share it with you 🤍 1. Cast on your needed amount of stitches and knit at least 2-3 rounds (or rows, it works for flat knitting too) in stockinette stitch. 2. Slip the stitch from left needle knitwise. 3. Lift the stitch from two rounds/rows below of the same stitch from the wrong side ( the second purl bump) and knit it. 4. Pass your previously slipped stitch over. 3. Repeat steps 1-4 for every stitch. After that you can keep knitting your garment in your preferred pattern. The edging needs some practice, but after the first few stitches it’s really easy to remember. This is so much easier than frogging! 🐸 This is a super versatile fix for so many different mistakes - I’ve used it on everything from split stitches like these to colourwork to cables (and lace, though that one isn’t for the faint of heart). You can unravel multiple stitches at a time if you’re dealing with a larger mistake, but it’s good to try it on a smaller issue at first just to get the feel for it. I’m fixing Hayst in this video, a new summer top I’m working on. I’ve made plenty of sweaters this way and eventually transitioned to holding one strand in each hand, but there’s no rush to learn a new knitting method just to do stranded colourwork. The key is to stretch out the stitches you’ve just knit before switching colours. This keeps the float at the back loose enough for stretch! 🧶✨ Hope that was helpful!
