REAscorbic Acid and Vitamin C are NOT one in the same
Ascorbic acid (AA) added to vitamins, drinks and food does not make up a complete wholefood source of vitamin C and is, in fact, devoid of all vitamin C co-factors. AA is described as the anti-oxidant wrapper but co-occurs with other parts of Vitamin C. AA on its own is void of vitamin C cofactors and will DEPLETE the adrenal glands of Vitamin C.
90% of all Vitamin C is stored in the adrenal for one main reason – it is used to produce the stress hormone cortisol. Vitamin C also plays a HUGE role in the production of copper rich anti-oxidants (SOD, Catylase, CAD, Cytochrome Oxidase, Glutathione Peroxidase) that benefit the oxygen carry capacity of RBCs, copper metabolism, energy production and iron recycling.
Ascorbic Acid is derived from GMO corn and is synthesized from a process using volatile acids. Which makes AA a pro-oxidant, not an anti-oxidant, increasing overall oxidative stress. “High doses of AA has been linked to the formation of kidney stones, and formation of genotoxins (chemicals that damage the genetic formation inside cells and cause mutations).” Thomas et al. 2013 and Lee et al. 2001.

❌Liposomal C is derived from AA.
❌Sodium Ascorbate is AA buffered in sodium and derived from AA.
Whole food vitamin C contains: 14 flavonoids, rubin, tyrosinase, factors P, K and J, copper ions, iron, manganese, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium and ascorbic acid.
Great sources of WHOLE FOOD C: strawberries, citrus fruits, cherries, papaya, kiwi

☀️Vitamin C can be applied in the morning or at night and even twice a day
☀️Though it is most commonly used in the morning time due to its UV protective effects, there are certain conditions in which it’s better to apply vitamin c at night
🌅Apply vitamin C in the morning if :
✔️Mostly indoors
✔️Less sun exposure
✔️Using milder or stable forms of vitamin C like 3- O ethylascorbic acid, ascorbyl glycoside, sodium ascorbyl phosphate or magnesium ascorbyl phosphate
✔️using for glow and brightening effect
✔️using retinol at night
🌃Apply Vitamin C at night if:
✔️sensitive skin
✔️using potent form like L ascorbic acid
✔️not using a retinol at night or using retinol only 2-3 times a week
✔️mainly for dark spots
✔️as maintenance treatment for melasma
✔️excess sun exposure

Vitamin C works best in the AM to help protect your skin from environmental damage (always follow with sunscreen!).
🍊 Using too much
More isn’t better. 3-5 dropsis usually enough. overdoing it can lead to irritation without extra benefits.
🍊 Using an oxidized product
If your vitamin C has turned dark yellow or brown, it’s oxidized and less effective. Time to toss it.
