Today’s sewing demonstration, how to hand sew ladder stitch 🪡🧵 The ladder stitch is used to close openings and seams invisibly, particularly for stuffed items like pillows and plush toys, but also for repairing clothing or other seams that need to be joined without visible stitches. Incas you were wondering “ladder stitch” and “blind stitch” refer to the same hand-sewing technique, which is also known as the invisible stitch or slip stitch. It is used to close openings in seams so that the stitches are nearly invisible, making it ideal for finishing stuffed items like pillows or stuffed animals. Hope you enjoyed this video, follow for more videos and tutorials like this. XOXO, Kelly #sewinglessons #ladderstitch #blindstitch #invisiblestitch #slipstitch #handsewing

How to sew #5 ladder stitch - 10 stitches you need to know: To sew a ladder stitch, thread a needle with matching thread and tie a knot at the end. Begin by inserting the needle inside one folded edge and make a small stitch, then insert the needle into the opposite folded edge and make a stitch of the same length. Continue alternating stitches between the two edges, keeping them evenly spaced. Gently pull the thread to close the opening. At the end, secure with a small knot and hide the thread tail inside the project. The ladder stitch is also known as the slip stitch or invisible stitch. A bit of a longer tutorial than I normally do but the Ladder Stitch is a good one to have in your stitch tool box. . It’s used for closing up pillows, pin cushions and even some amigurumi plush toys. It’s pretty cool as your stitches are hidden along the seam. . A longer demonstration is on my YouTube channel if needed! Sound up to listen to me babble or sound off to just read the captions :) #stitching #ladderstitch #howto #youtubechannel #sewingpattern #pincushion #craftshoppecanada

Ladder stitch, invisible stitch, whatever you call her, in my opinion is the easiest and cleanest stitch you can do to finish off a garment if you are required to hand sew a section. For me, I line a lot of my garments so this is the perfect way to close off the lining. It’s a simple stitch once you get the hang of it, just remember to go slow and be patient, you’ve got this! 😌 By far the most important step is to start by ironing your garment, if you want you can press the seams open too. Start by knotting your thread and bringing your needle towards you from the back. Now stitch across and up, then to the opposite side, parallel to your precious stitch and up again and through to you, then back to the other side. When the seam is open it should look like a ladder! Keep repeating this till you’ve closed your seam and pull the thread for a satisfying finish. Remember to knot your thread again once you’ve finished and that’s it! Happy sewing 🪡 🤍 #teaganjacobs
